Tacky sparkle Top Loader missile launchers with the same kind of replacement necks that were produced back a long time ago. I don't think the wood these days carry the same tone and playability. Is that the woods fault or the environment, or the corner cutting , if there is any, I just think the wood is so much different, more generic these days , as beautiful as some of the tops out there are , I still haven't played anything like a juicy maple neck charvel strathead with a little playing time on it. I'd like to see an old one, original, or a great parts mutt in everyone's hands so people would know what we're talking about when we kneel and pray to the certain ones that have blown our hair back, it's not a snob issue, it's a fact issue.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

Definitely +1, but if they are USA made production guitars, then they should be priced just like their US Fender Strat counterpart, i.e. in the $1,000 range.

They come from the same factory, are CNC-cut, there is nothing "custom" about them, so they should cost the same.

What a ridiculous waste of the shop's limited man-hours that was.

All I want to see is reasonably priced customs and limited runs with fewer BS restrictions and solid QC. That's it. I bought two limited run axes, and I like them both, but I can't help but feel I got lucky after seeing what some others have gone through. I'd like to buy more one day, but only if the price isn't stupid and they show they can do at least 9 out of 10 (99 out of 100 would be more like it) without some kind of QC fiasco. Not too much to ask, imo.

        About sums it up.

Honestly, I just don't care. If they come out with something that's cool at a reasonable price I'd consider it. Until then, there are soooooooo many fantastic guitars out there that it just doesn't matter to me even a little.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Very true indeed, however you must get rid of greed, egos and massive overhead first.
After seeing how PRS handles his operation, the care they place on their tasks (all of them) and how no detail is overlooked.... FMIC in particular J/C has a long journey ahead. Very long.

                  Mike, pricing issues aside.

                  - I would like to see flame and quilt bent tops on Charvels.
                  - Strat heads, mostly maple but will accept some ebony.
                  - Recessed Floyds mainly but some vintage trems allowed.
                  - Cool graphics- HRF (Eldred), Bullseyes, some stripes, Polka Dots, etc. NO "skulls on sticks", Grim Reapers or Zombies. Please.
                  - Pickups- HSS & HS combinations.
                  - I wouldn't mind some plain colored axes with a PG and couple of pups. Basic but functional and sexy.
                  - Better attention to detail on the neck, where WE have THE most contact with the axe!! rolled fretboard edges, cleaner fret jobs, etc. How about some lightly tinted maple every once in a while? to get a vintagey look!
                  - Truss rod adjustment at headstock.

Amen to that brother. That experience really showed how much Paul and his employees really care about the guitars they send out and the people who are buying them. For me, it actually justified my growing PRS habit. I never thought I would feel good about spending $3K to $5k on a guitar. For some that may sound stupid but you had to be there.

I really don't care where they are built, as long as they reach the qualitylevel of the Modelseries, so I go for Japanese production to keep prices a bit down. But of course very serious American qualitycontrol.

I could not agree with this more. That shows that it CAN be done, but unfortunately it probably will not..........
