"Alec. I'll take a Mod 1 and a DKMG for $400." And the question is; "How can you save $3350 and have two great guitars?" Buzz. "Yes, fett". Camera to fett. fett; "Just be fett". Alec; "You post too much. But that is correct."

These guitars are so ridiculously overpriced it is sad. I can't imagine paying that much for a guitar. Every guitar I've ever bought I've modified to make it more suitable to my playing style, I'd have to do the same shit to those expensive doorstop guitars.

Oh well. There will always be people with more money than sense.

Ease up Rupe, maybe t-head was proposing a hypothetical..."what if that had happened? ...this reminds me of Apple reducing the iPhone price, a buncha first responders did get upset on that one.

They finally updated the Charvel site a little. Pat was dead on about them being reduced to $5k. Here are the MSRPs:

I wonder how the natural series that MZ has are doing? If taxes don't hit me too bad, I'm thinking about buying a koa 1 hum/1 single from them next year.

You know.... my 20+ years in the business and there is more crying about prices on this forum than any other! It's ok to pay that much for a guitar guys..... Jackson/Charvels are the sports cars of the guitar industry....! Would you rather drive a Ferrari or a Toyota? Guess which one cost more......

Oh and by the way.... I just purchased a new Charvel and it was expensive, but I'm happy with it! If I thought that it was too much money, I would never have purchased it! By the way.... how much is a '59 gibson les paul reissue? Too much?

What your missing is that it's a Charvel. Gibsons and Fender are driven by a different market that Jackson/Charvel. Charvel and Jackson are associated with the 80's metal crowd where the the LP and Strat are considered classics The guys buying the high end LPs and Strats tend to be an much older crowd chasing some "tone" from way back when, they tend to have a more disposable income and want their brand new guitars to look like they are vintage. Hence the stupid, yes I said stupid relicing that seems to dominate those 2 markets. Those guitars are equivalent to a Rolex, when someone makes some dough they want to get the "best", but they just don't realize the "best" is the most mass produced mass marketed item, and there are lots of higher quality alternatives available at equivalent or less price points. But, because the majority believe these guitars to be the pinnacle of guitars, they are willing to pay higher prices and Gibson and Fender are more than happy to keep charging more. Also because of this these guitars are easier to sell on the secondary market and do seem to hold their value.

Another point is that the huge price increases have only happened in the last year. Before the prices had been fairly consistent in the $1500 range, which no one seemed to have a problem with. Charvel would have never attempted the Grover Legacy at those initial prices 2 years ago(they were $10,000 by the way). Then they introduced that stupid Masterbuilt Fender idea into the Charvel line. Which is almost impossible to get around if you want anything more than a bone bares plain Charvel. Did you know wanting Alder makes it Masterbuilt? That is where alot of the bitching is coming from, that coupled with ridiculous wait times of 2 years not being uncommon and slew of QC problems, have caused a rise in complaining on this board.

In addition, I think the guys on this board probably purchase 80% of J/C custom stock

Unless EVH designed it under the direct supervision of Jesus, I don't see how a single pickup, vintage trem guitar could cost over $2000.
