  • Flame Away, Relic Haters... :)

Yeah, I know. Relics are love'em or hate'em, no in between.

This will be here next Monday, and go with my '60 relic, '69 relic, and '57 LP Custom VOS. So yes, I love relics.

And before you guys go off on the recessed floyd, 21 fret neck thing...

I owned George Lynch's Booger and that was a 21 fret neck guitar, and he hacked (and I do mean hacked ) a recessed floyd into it, so you know what, it's been done before.

No hate here, Ralph...I love the look of that guitar! A full report when it arrives, please. That is such a killer color.

Cool. Hope you enjoy it. Like j2379 said, I would feel too limited without some extra frets.

Congrats, Ralph. Not my cup o' tea, but I'm sure it'll be a cool guitar. And +1 to loving the color.

Congrats and enjoy! Heck, if it had 22 frets I'd already own one of the relics too.

Relics suck man....You are such a poser. Its like you have only been playing for 5 or 6 years or something, and you want your guitars to feel comfortable and look cool.....

                    Oh wait, thats me.

                    Forget it.

It's not entirely love or hate. I think they look cool, but I am troubled by the fact that they often cost more than a mint piece. At least when the manufacturer does the relic'ing it costs more - if we do it ourselves it becomes worth less!

I like it. Did they go oldschool and drill it for a vintage trem before installing the floyd?

i like it, but i'd have had the recess yellow, i don't like it in black. it just looks like a random block of black in the middle of ur guitar. I have also totally gone of rosewood fretboards recently. ugh.

. . . and lose the trem bar and trem cover?

I'm not into rosewood boards or 21 frets, but I still think it looks cool. I initially bristled at the relic concept, but then I realized that I've been buying relic'ed jeans for years (although those rock hard Toughskins are a lot more uncomfortable than a mint guitar) .

What I think is funny is the eBay auctions for used relics, noting that the guitar has no post-factory marks, chips, etc.
