I had the solar (amber) one-off 25th, and I totally agree with neilli that the neck profile was more CS Fender than Charvel (except maybe a Holdsworth neck). Much chunkier than and early Charvel neck. I just got a Charvel relic (mentioned in one of the other threads here) and that neck is absolutely PERFECT. But again, this is subjective. I never cared for the Holdsworth neck profile, I liked the earlier thinner necks.

I agree with Shawn!! They are great guitars, The pickup screams in them. the birdseye's in the necks are just ==WOW==. I have one of the early ones #16 I got from Guitar Asylum. I could not be happier the fret work is killer and she was perfect right out of the case. One question weren't these the first Strat heads done after the buy out or was the bulleys and stars first. On the other hand when talking about pointies, I have a 2005 I got from Matts and compared to my 83 pointy the neck is totally different the 83 is much wider and that is due it being kahlered. Which I prefer is the 83 as it does not have all the body wood cut out for a floyd. the 83 has alot more tone then the newer one, but the newer one as I play it more I really can tell that the tone is getting better with use. All in all I am please with both and the fact they are different animals. I would really like to get another Kahlered Charvel with 2 hums in it.

Mod a collectible strathead? Who would do such insanity?
Seriously, since they started offering custom order stratheads again, I doubt you'll see many more of any of the limited editions mod'd.
I expect the 25ths will hold their value around today's level, but I doubt they'll ever really bring "big bucks". At least, not for the next several years. Just MHO.

If you played an early 25th the neck shapes are different than the later ones. Mike admitted that he was trying to dial it in as he went. One of these days I will have to try and do scans of the neck shapes of my 25th and my 86. I don't find mine to be bright sounding at all, I wonder why the blue was because I think it was from the same lumber ..
I say this because ive seen 3--- 25th Ann. for sale, and 2 were Amber,
and 1 was red'. Ive never seen a Blue one till today! Killer! They must
have been snapped up quick? Also..you guys are really hurting yourself
with the Vintage trems imo. Just to be accurate? If they dont work well..
why have them? Ive found that the Wilkinson looks like a vintage trem..
(on my Empire) but takes allot of abuse, and is dead nuts on!)
So tell me why the "Vintage" love of late 70's Trems?

Apparently a little powdered graphite (or oil) to lube the nut (I would go with graphite myself - although I have used oil) can make a huge difference in v-trem stability. I still refuse to own one though! (even my LP has a trem!)"I''ll say what I'm gonna say, cuz I'm going to Hell anyway!"
