Now that is a Strat I'd be proud to own. Nice job.

Very nice. I've always liked the strat pickguard look on a pointy.

Very nice job! Congrats. The body could also be Northern Ash. During that time period it was known to be a popular choice for bodies. I don't know why but it was a trend back then.

Thanks for all the nice comments...it is always nice to know others appreciate one of your guitars! I spent a few hours with it yesterday and I am really starting to dig it. It is kind of strange because the '86 Jackson neck that was on it is just about the same neck. Just a different logo and a different scarf joint.

The sound is drastically different. My guitar guy said the electronics were all messed up...not grounded, open pick-up, wired wrong, etc. Normally I would do the wiring my self, but it was a mess so I figured I would leave it for a pro. I am glad I did. The 5 way and the splitter really give a nice variety of tones.

Bengal - I never considered Northern Ash. I wasn't aware it was that heavy and I am not sure how to tell if it is.

Good job and always good to see one of these saved considering the number that have been trashed over the years. Northern "Hard" Ash is nothing like regular swamp ash, very heavy and sounds pretty good IMHO. I have a Warmoth parts strat made out of it. Great sounding guitar if a bit heavy.

So how does it intonate/stay in tune as that looks like a v-trem to floyd conversion?

I had a hard time deciding between chrome and black...I went with black to match the pickups.

The intonation is very good. It looks pretty close on a tuner and it holds chords nicely all the way up the neck.

I thought this was a v-trem conversion to. In fact I have an old v-trem bridge I considered throwing on it. When I got this neck that was cut for a floyd I decided to stay with the floyd. Initially, I thought there were holes for a v-trem, but I just checked and I can't see any. The black intonation screws give a reflection that looks like holes so that may have been what I saw before and thought they were holes. Is there any other way to tell if it has been converted?

Well, unless it's not original to the guitar, the backplate is a dead giveaway. i.e., The hole for stringing the bridge from underneath.

I like the pickguard look with a pointy head as well (especially with a floyd on there)
                                Nice guitar!
