Question; lets say I go to an FMIC dealer that sells Fender/Jackson/etc; I won't be able to order a Charvel from them as they are not part of the 50 dealer cliche?

You can't do that today. There is a limited group of Charvel dealers now.

All kidding aside, what is the big deal of all this even if it is true? please tell me!

The Charvel Website lists less than fifty dealers today. That means they plan to add dealers to their network. Either going to existing and making a case for those guys to "stay" with Charvel and looking for some more people to join the ship. Sinking or whatever.
I think they have way more issues to work out such as QC and better market research on what is it that people want and want to pay for it, than a sure fire way to guarantee a retail market for their "creations".

My point is, what the hell does it matter if the guitars come out at a $1599 price point if they are unplayable or have some graphic that only Johnny Depp or Tim Burton would be proud off?
I wouldn't buy them and certainly people aren't buying them today. I wouldn't buy some of the stuff out there today if it was offered to me at $700 including shipping and paypal.
The cool axes coming out of their shop today and few and far in between.

It is not so damned difficult!! but it appears to me some marketing and strategy bumwad is and has been trying to jam in a square peg into a round hole on his play set somewhere in Scottsdale.

what are you talking about, they are all over the place, not selling, as has been mentioned here. you can get one of those for about 1000 - 1300 right now all day long. what's stopping you?

Dealers have always had to sign an annual contract that many times requires a commitment of dollars and/or units. That's part of being a dealer...

An affordably priced USA built Charvel with limited options would probably sell great.

Strongly disagree, was some really nice Charvels as NAMM, granted i`m not keen on the Legacy series, but those NAMM ones where nice.

what I'm not getting is how they're going to actually produce 12 runs of 50 guitars each in a year's time.

(for Charvel, given their super long order/delivery times and general glacial pace) that seems like a real stretch to me.

It should be no problem for them considering they no longer make the EVH Art Series or production pointies, plus these will probably be done as batches similar to how they do USA Select Jacksons.

This should be no problem, as they really arent doing much of anything lately.

That's nice. More people can now afford the guitar.....but oh you wanted it to actually stay in tune? We'll that my friend will cost you an extra $1600.

I've had my share of Floyd knock offs and they pretty much sucked. I guess we'll see.

I think it's pretty cool, an affordable USA charvel for the masses, and they have warranties if something's wrong.

well overall I'm very happy with the prospect of an affordable strat head Charvel.
at that price (say 1500) with a limited run finish, I'm there.

in fact I'd like that so much that I'd sell as many of my guitars as I had to, to get one.
