I have a San Dimas Reissue, I think it's a 1995 model, and I've seen several comments from "pointy" and "Strathead" lovers who basically say that they can't stand the reissue headstock design. I've never seen a PC in person, but isn't the headstock approximately the same design?

The 1996 PC1 has the same headstock as the SD reissue.
In 1997, Jackson changed the shape just a touch to make Fender happy.
Notice that the 96 tip has more meat to it.
1996 SD:
1996 PC1: Hard to see as the pic is a bit blown out.
1997 PC1:

to this day, i still prefer that headstock over a real strathead.GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I think all three are ugly. Thats what kept me from buying a PC1 till they released the Strat headstock version. Although, I still think the Jackson standard pointy is the coolest headstock ever madeRudy

These are mine. The SD II Koa has been my daily player since '95...someone posted the same geetar..it looks exact.
I ordered this one from Jackson in '95..I waited about a year for it...again someone posted a pic of their trans green SD III. It's identical..I keep it in a time capsule and it prolly has just a few hours playing time on it..
The koa became my main player simply because there's no paint to scratch..its been my right arm since.
I don't care for that pregnant looking one..that's kinda odd..why did they do that?Anywhoo, doesn't take away from their tone at all..awesome guitars!!
I love 'em!!!"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

Thanks for clearing that up..I could never remember that for some reason.
I still have the '95 brochures with all of them in there. But I put that kind of stuff away..
I wasn't settled on a "main" guitar at that time. Before then, my main was a HRR Strat w/ floyd/dimarzio. I remember when Alex Skolnick just joined Savatage I saw the GW add with Alex holding the SD1 and I just obsessed on the damn thing. I saw one at a local store I bought it immediately. It's been my baby since. The green SDIII still, feels, looks, and smells brand new. The SD1 aged nicely..the koa wood is kinda soft so there's minor surface marks..but NO dings of any kind. The birdseye necks on both look awesome!
BTW..the SDIII is much heavier than the koa.."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

The Maple top is what makes that bitch so heavy.
He took the best of both, added the sustainer and there you have it.Yes, the maple does add to the weight..and it certainly brightens up the mahogony..or is it walnut..I forgot. The SD III has a Tone Zone, chopper and fast track pups. The SD1 has custom dimarzios..a mild distortion type I believe. They sound really great with the koa. John ordered that pickup and put it in his dinky and it didn't sound anything like it.
