Over the years, I've owned about a half dozen Charvels/Jackson, quite a few of them custom, but I've always wanted a Bengal Charvel/Jackson. After catching up on the current state of affairs, I was little disheartened (wait times and big price increases). I'd been looking for a few months when I happened across this one on eBay.
I made a few posts here and inadvertently ended up contacting the seller, Hellraiser6502 AKA Curt, via PM. After speaking with him, I thought about it for a bit and decided to pass because I thought I didn't want a guitar with a locking trem. After a bit more catching up, I learned about all the latest trem stablizer things and decided I would go for it because I would remedy the issues I have with locking trems (going out of tune when a string breaks and having the trem move if you rested your hand on them while playing).
I watched the auction on eBay, still pondering the purchase, then the morning I decided to pull the trigger, I discovered that the listing had ended early and I was crushed. I thought for sure it had been sold locally but I contacted Curt anyway, just to be sure. Lady luck smiled on me because he still had so I sealed the deal.
Anyway, some of you have seen this guitar already (I know Ralph E. has) but some have not so here are some pics. The matching reverse headstock caught my eye as I have a thing for matching headstocks. It makes the guitar look more "custom" to me I guess. I'm still unsure about the gold hardware but it works so I'm not going to rush out and replace it with black. I am however going to replace the pups. The neck pup, a Duncan of some sort, has good tone but I can't deal with the hum. The bridge pup, a Duncan JB, is good but I prefer the Dimarzio Tone Zone. The condition was just as described (9.9/10). It looks pretty much unplayed.
