  • finally the mutts together

its finally together,i bought a U.S neck egay about 6 weeks ago.
some new tremelo springs, gold planet waves and some gold pot knobs.
its a model 3 body(i think) .she plays beautifully and im pretty happy with it.i put the U.S neck on it because the jap neck had a split in it.then i totally wrecked the jap neck when i was investergating why it had split.
i sold an esp ltd h201 to build this mutt, did i do the right thing.
i have some more plans for this mutt but thats it for now.

Nice job! The rosewood board really looks good with the Red finish on the body!

Looks good. What's the story with your mutt and her parts - where did they come from, etc.?

a buddy of mine bought it from a pawn shop for $120.
it was pretty shaby when he bought it.the body cavity covers, both where missing, pot knobs missing, locknut had screws missing, the neck was split between the nut and the 1st fret.the fret board was starting to lift of the back of the neck and if you have a good look at the body, you see some bumps and some marking but nothing major.the floyd was pretty lazy and the action was not great but you could see the guitar had potential. the machine heads where loose and not holding strings in tune also.
so then my buddy was in a jam and needed a car for a week,so i loaned him my car and he give me the guitar.
so then i played it as for about 9months and just by looking at charvels and websites like this i got the bug to rebuild it.
            1st step was buying a neck,scored 1 of ebay from the u.s
when i first got it in the mail i took photos of the heel and number(i will post them later)
read good reviews about planet waves so got them.some tremelo springs, some locknut screws and some pot knobs.
once i got all the bits it all come together pretty easy.
i had to cut 4mm of the neck bolts and drill the width of the screw holes on the heel about 1mm for everthing to fit neatly.
on the headstock i had to drill the holes 1mm for the p/waves to fit neatly.thats about it.future plans are for a new bridge pickup and a gold floyd.

Thanks for writing up the story. It's a cool-looking guitar, for sure.

That's a real nice looking mutt you have there.
I love mutts... they seem to have more mojo when done correctly.
So, tell us more about how she plays!

"Wow,... that was some of the hardest rockin ever. Hardest to listen too."

yeah it playes nice,i have been playing with different set ups, trying to get it right.the action is low but not super low.to be honest i would like to get it refreted, but thats in the pipeline for later on.
its hard for me to discribe its tone.it has a thick rich, bass tone.it sounds totally different to when it had the jap neck on it.
sounds great in the neck single.gives a great rich singlecoil tone.it really blew me away the fist time i played it.
the bridge pickup sounds lite to me or not as sharp as i would like. i have orded a sd-tb4,should get in a week or so.
thats the best i could do guys
