Wow. I must admit that I'm blown away by the specs. I was totally expecting to be underwhelmed. But USA made, alder bodies, quartersawn oiled maple necks, stratheads, real Floyds, 'cans and 'zos, cool solid colors? And $999 MAP? That's a helluva lot of bang for your buck.

Sure, they did a few cost-reduction moves in some places, but that's to be expected at this price point. And the trade-offs seem entirely acceptable - certainly in-line or better than comparably-priced competition. Crossing my fingers that the QC is there, too.

Major props to the guys running Charvel now. They delivered, and then some.

Oiled quarter sawn neck, amazing. I was so hoping that it wouldn't be caked in polyurethane and my wish has come true. I'm glad it's non-reccessed too, means I can stick on a D-tuna and not have to worry about locking the bridge with a tremol-no. I wonder when us guys in the UK will get these.

Can anybody tell me what the San Dimas R3 neck is like, Fat, Skinny, C shapped, D shapped?? I'm playing a R2 Pacer maple board (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...IMG_0095-1.jpg) with a oil finish that has a C shaped profile... My Jackson Kelly ( http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...r/IMG_0095.jpg) has the R4 that is a wide and flat D shape that I really don't care for, a little wide for my tastes, and to flat on the back (its off a Dinky)...

R3 and R4 are the same width, but the R3 has more narrow string spacing. I like it because you end up with more room for vibrato on the 1st string.

I have tomorrow off,so I may go pre-order one in "Candy Tangerine".

Does anyone know if my "Schaller" Floyd that's on my 92 Dinky Rev Pro will swap out with the Floyd that's on the new series? That would be a nice back up to have.

So the So-Cal in "Candy Tangerine" aka: Tangelo seems to be color and model that's getting alot attention.

Give either Matt's Music or Piney Hills a call and place a deposit on one or more. According to Nick at Piney Hills these will be made each quarter, 1000 in black and 1000 in the special rotation color. He said those numbers are split among all 3 models. If you really want one of the current style/rotation colors you could miss out. Also, GC and MF do not get these to sell.

I'd like to preorder a metallic green or metallic blue if they are coming this year.
