Fretboard Radius?

I think a lot of these were done by humans and as humans are not perfect, neither are the radius.

I have a 1996 Les Paul Classic with a 9 1/2" radius even though Gibson states they use a 12".

I just put new binding, and sanded the fretboard on my 75 standard LP copy.I actually bought it in 1975!!!(real good jap model Alcivar, same as Tokai)
I was quite surprised it actually is 9-1/2" at the nut, and ends at 12"!
ended up doing some careful sanding with my radius blocks, but she came out beautiful...maybe Gibson did that too, seems strange to find that much work in a random copy??
