I'm just saying that my '06 strathead is a little fuller than my '05 pointy, my '84 pointy, and my Model Series bolt-on necks, and I suspect that these production models will be similar to the recent stratheads, based on what's been said by people at the shop and people who checked them out at NAMM.
The original person that ordered it changed his mind after a few days of owning it(LUCKY ME!) so i grabbed it.
The neck is a 21 fretter,1-5/8th nut and is extremely thin and super fast,it does have a thick lacquer finish but i love it.
I wouldn't sell it for $10,000 and i am serious

Work has kept me away from the board for some time, and the first time I log back in I see this. Right now I am contemplating what to sell to purchase one of these. The only thing is I wonder what colors will be offered later.
Still, I have emailed FMIC in the past about offering something like this, and I know many others have as well. So, I feel like I should pony up and buy one now so they will see this as a successful venture and continue to offer product at this pricepoint.

what is a typical 82 or 83 neck shape?Last edited by savage; 07-15-2008, 11:07 AM.

Hopefully someone will have theirs today to report on it and end the speculation, but if these are like the recent custom shop stratheads (and that is what people are saying), they will have a slightly fuller profile than the recent pointies. The recent pointies had a very similar profile to the old SD pointies, which was also very similar to the Model Series bolt-on profile. So, I'd expect it to have a slightly fuller profile than the Model 4. I have one recent CS strathead and one CS pointy, and this is what my experience has been.
Savage, not sure where you get the "based on the '82 necks" thing. There was no standardized profile in '82. The catalogs & pricelists offered 3 profiles then:
G-1 (wide, flat), G-2 (boat or V), and G-3 (early '60s), but there was a lot of variation as they were custom handshaped necks. According to guys who have played lots of old ones and the new CS stratheads, they seem to be based more on the later San Dimas stratheads, which were a bit more standardized and generally had a fuller profile than pointy necks of the time.

these necks are based on the '82 necks which have to be played to really experience them
