I'm surprised they didn't think it would be so popular. Tangerine looks great with or without the pickguard, especially with a maple fretboard. Big D's pointy gives a little hint as to what to expect:
Mike (Bionic) said at NAMM that the Candy Tangerine was actually not expected to do very well, and they were pleasantly surprised to see how popular it really was at the show.
I'm really hoping they'll make that one a standard color, though I'm wondering if it'll lose its appeal once it's on a Style 1 or Style 2. The black pickguard goes great with that color - sort of a "Halloween" color scheme - but not so sure how it would fare if it was more dominant like the Gold or Red.
seems an odd strategy, as more people want the colored ones. you'd think they'd do it the other way round, and make more of what people really want.
A lot of companies do this sort of thing ... the base model is pretty plain and then if you want a nice color you gotta pony up more dough. The scarcity of the limited colors creates a buzz arond the product but if they had plentiful color choices with good availability it could eat into the sales of their higher end models, in this case the CS models.
in reality they are keeping their overall costs down by just making a bunch of black ones. My guess is that after the first cpl of weeks of a new color being out there will be pretty much only black ones available until the next color is introduced.

WOOHOO! Found it!
I was typing in Charvel at Live.com. Then I typed in PS3 and the "Get Cashback" banner popped up. Clicked on that, then went to Ebay and it was on the top of the page. Searched for Charvels and found a Candy Tangerine that it applied to, and it said I was eligible for $249.75 cashback! That's $749.25 for a USA Charvel!
Ya, I'm thinkin long and hard now. It's back down to 20% but I also have a 10% stackable coupon from ebay/paypal goog until end of month
The 10% you use in your paypal acct.
so 700 shipped hmmm
dam yesterday was 25%, coulda had 650 shipped.
Might not be that small, but they could be doing very limited numbers of the colors as the colors may be just to make the ads look nice, but in reality they are keeping their overall costs down by just making a bunch of black ones. That Black will be Standard and easy to get...and they would be changing to newer colors every 3 months and the old color would not be repeated again....I herd they are going to do Emeral Green and Metalic Blue next. Now that would be awesome!!!!!!I think you could say that Charvel is back in the Game now....They are very nice guitars for a very good price.
Dewayne @Zoo Music here in Dallas hooked me up.
I asked him a month or two ago about this New line of Charvel's.At that time he didn't seem to know about them. Then he called me up this past Thurs. and told me he got a shippment of them in.Man this thing is sweet and damn sure isn't a Fender. The neck is Beefy and very nice and the FR heck I can't tell the difference between it and the German made FR..Nice!!!!
