I've seen a used 7 string Squire at a local store. I think it had the big CBS headstock too. I might play it next time i'm up there.

I don't know.. A Korean Floyd at that price point might very well be a deal breaker for me.. I mean I got an OFR and Dimarzios on my Gunslinger for $699

                Sweet!

And about the Floyd... to be honest, I couldnt care less where its made. As long as it performs as its intended and is durable, who cares where the bridge is made? Its still a genuine Floyd Rose... though not an "original". As long as the baseplate is hardened and it comes with that nice solid brass sustain block, does anything else really matter? Id take a made in USA guitar with a Korean floyd over a Korean guitar with a German Floyd any day of the week.

                  Very valid point/s.
I agree AND if having a OFR is a deal to many then upgrade to an OFR.
Either way an American quality guitar is getting made from the Charvel camp.

The way I look at it, either way (upgrade to a OFR or not), its a win win situation. Were getting a very decent quality guitar for a very affordable price. This is what Charvel needs and the customer needs.
This is a very positive for both parties, good will come from this.

I'm drooling over the candy apple red.
I wish it was offered in a single coil and humbucker configuration.
But hey, two humbuckers can't be all that bad.
I just prefer a single coil in there somewhere because of versatility
                  and achieving a "strat" tone.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

It'll be interesting to see if dealers will now put their the current stock of "custom shop" pieces on a blow-out sale... I really hope so!

                      Isnt the gunslinger korean??
BC Rich is also owned by the same company as floyd rose. USA gunslingers are around $2,200 new. Close to the same specs as the new charvels. That original floyd is an expense upgrade.

Actually, an OFR upgrade wouldnt cost much at all. Lets break it down, buy a new black OFR from Warmoth, $180. Beings that all you need is the bridge, you can put the Korean Floyd with all the other stuff you just bought, and sell the whole kit on eBay for about $130-150. Sure it takes a few minutes of work, but not a bad deal if you HAVE to have german.
