Ya know, all this mindless jibber jabber aside - these seem like absolutely killer guitars for the current price of $999 shipped (or $800 if you buy on Ebay with the 20% off deal through Live.com/Ebay/Paypal).
I am seriously thinking of getting one to put a Roland GK pickup on.
HEY! i thought you were out looking for my $1300-41500 25th?
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

$800.00 for one of these??? Sheesh... hardly makes it worth the effort for a dealer to sell them at that price.
Nope. The dealer still gets $999. There is a promotion running with Live.com that gets you 20% off of BIN/Paypal purchases up to $250 - the dealer doesn't eat anything.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Got my orange SoCal last night and no way is it a Fender. I do not own any original USA Charvels from the 80's but have played them and always wanted one, Strathead or pointy. These cam in at the right price and time for me to finally get a USA Charvel. Currently I own an '88 Washburn EC36, an '89 toothpaste Charvel Fusion Special, a 2002 Fender USA Std. Strat and now a 2008 USA Charvel SoCal. This guitar is well beyond the look and feel of the Strat. It is an awesome guitar. I cannot comment on the new vs. old argument, but I am extremely happy I preordered one and got the Tangerine SoCal. This color looks awesome.
I have heard the same thing from two dealers at this point ...
I heard that the first shipment which includes the non-black guitars is the only shipment of the colors and that the dealers could only order additional black guitars until the next color set comes out.
If that's the case, then if you are really want one of the colors, you should act fast once it is available for pre-order.
I had an 83 pointyhead Star. I still remember that neck profile. The only thing I've had that was similar to it was a Killer KG-Pirates (lower-end Akira model).
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
I'm not worried about missing out on the Orange. Judging by the sales, that will become a standard color once the rotations are done (unless they try to pander to the collectors and do all the colors as "once in a lifetime").

Someone hurry up and turn the Socal into a Green Meanie. I noticed the CS would not let people order that config because they thought it could be turned into a Green Meanie.
My rep will not let us order any of the limited colors. He told me that there will be less than 150 of each of the current special color guitars. I can order more black ones, but he doesn't expect those to even go into production for another month. If you guys have to have one of the current limited colors (on a strat!).... get it now from someone. I don't have any left.
The Tele is a killer model for those that like them, but maybe they should have done the two strat based models and for 6 months a Limited Tele style. One color for three months and a different color for the next three months. After 6 months, change it to a star body in one color for three months and another for three months. Then the next year do an explorer for 6 months and then a V. Then go back to the Tele etc. Keep it all "production" models, same pickups, paint and hardware. Just have the CNC machine crank out 300 different shaped bodies every 6 months. There are not enough people into hot rodded Teles, or are there?
