  • Anyone have any sources for buying a '81 or '82

I am really considering trying to grab a old original like my snow white '81
Is there any place that sells old genuine stock originals?
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

honestly, your best bet is one of the grover legacy charvels. imo, these guitars are way too faked for me to ever buy one used unless it was from tracy.

i know that jacksonite had a kickass white with blue splatter legacy charvel for sale in his store that's just killer.

If it's faked well enough that he can't tell the difference, who cares?

I think Sully's talking about the original ones from the '80s... a lot of fakes are out there and it's hard for some people to tell. I personally wouldn't want one of those fab fakes either.

Anyone see the movie Saving Silverman? There's a scene where either Jack Black or the other guy is showing their genuine Neil Diamond autograph, and the girl says it looks like a xerox copy, and he kinda just says, "What? No..." Ignorance is bliss indeed.

Ignorance doesn't last long around here. The first time you posted it you would be told it was a fake and you just bought a $500 guitar for $3,000.

I own a original that i got new back in '81 and am pretty sure i could tell a fake
but would still like to deal with a reputable dealer

problem is that those that fake them usually do a good enough job (faking neck pocket signatures, etc).

there are some great people in the Charvel community that can help educate you and answer any questions you might have. A few people in particular are bad news and have been busted for faking and/or not being honest but most folks will help you avoid those guys. Good luck

                              +1

Rule of thumb is to make sure that unless you are really sure about originality of a guitar - make sure your purchase price is something that you can live with if things turn out to be questionable. Has worked just fine for me.
