I have a question/observation for the JC experts. Were you expecting kidney bean shaped tuners? I've owned a bunch of Jacksons and a few Charvels (both US and Japanese) and none of them had these style/shape tuners.

I guess I should've said, "Yes, we were expecting the kidney bean shaped tuners."

I'm sure the Grovers are fine, and like you said, they're a non-issue with a locknut. Still think it was an interesting thing for them to choose to do differently from all other Jacksons & Charvels, since I think those tuners are priced pretty close to Gotohs & Schallers. That's all I was getting at with my post.

ah. good times! i agree that it's a little weird that they don't use the standard gotohs, but i also don't care too much about it, either.

Maybe a little more on the "C" side than "D" shape? Rolled edges?

Poorly polished frets and/or crowning marks ABSOLUTELY can affect the playability of a guitar. Unless you don't bend strings jazz boy.

It's not just about shiny. Poorly polished frets can be rough - you can freakin' feel it.

I see the difference. The difference is that in the first one everyone (including you) understood that he mean the action was too high for his tastes and in the second version you're being pissy

my exp has been the Grovers are $35-40 and Schallers are $60-70.
I've always seen a big difference in price, so seeing the Grovers on these guitars did not surprise me.
