Also, whats common at these dealers stores are techs that will deliberately badly setup a guitar they intend to buy to discourage folks from buying it. They will grab it up and reset it and the guitar is golden and ready to go for them. Its not right but that's how it goes many times. You may have got a guitar a tech wanted and set it up badly and didn't get a chance to correct it before it went out the door. I had a guy a GC admit to me he done it frequently on guitars he was gonna buy so no one would come underneath him and buy it.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

I agree that it could possibly have been shipping damage. The box looked ok but the Charvel soft case wouldn't protect it much if something heavy was set on top of it. I'm just pissed because I have been wanting a USA Charvel strathead for a long time and could never afford the San Dimas models. Sorry for the previous rant, just bummed that it didn't work out. I guess it could have been worse, the dealer could have said it's a warranty issue and to take it up with Charvel instead of giving me a refund.

My guitars are set up by me, I own the store and I am also the Tech that does all of the work.... Worst case on a guitar that I ship will be that it needs to be tuned, my shippers tend to detune everything including Floyds. But the guitar will be set-up.

I got 12 of them, and they were all in great shape. Are they perfect, no. But I am sorry, no man made guitar is gonna be perfect. It should always need to be tweaked, and should be. I am sorry, but You should NEVER have recieved that guitar. I played every one before it left the shop. there was a Black SD2.... I checked them both out, one was right just needing Mikes personal setup touched, it shipped, the other needed a little TLC, so it sat on the bench, till it was right. Now it is, but its hangin on the wall. But I would have never shipped it without making it right.
now am I saying that these guitar was out the box perfect from my store, no. But they were checked out.
Not that I am gonna ramble.
and you would be suprised at what shipping can do to a guitar, when FedEx delivered them, 5 of them were open..

That's too bad, mine came from Jacksonite/Piney Hills. It is a Tangerine SoCal and was setup really well. Although mine took only one day from his shop, since I live about 250 miles away, so shipping was not a problem. It played great as soon as I got the guitar, and still does. Just a quick tune and it was rocking away. I will tweak it a little more for personal tastes.

Unfortunately, its the dealers who are at fault for the setup and etc not Charvel.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yes, I do think both the dealer and Charvel share the blame but more so on the dealers side. They should have at least given the guitar a quick look before shipping it to me. If it was just set up problems, I can deal with that myself but not the other stuff. The dealer admitted that he did not check the guitar out before shipping and was very apologetic. He said he would do what he could to make me happy, so I just got a refund.
