I'm actually kinda digging the volume knob. May have to pick one of these up a couple of weeks from now and give myself a birthday present.

I cannot determine what exactly the knob is made out of? When I first tapped on it (on the guitar) it felt kinda plastic-ey.But discovered it's the PG's plastic that gives the sound.
I removed it and had some weight to it,it is def sprayed cause underneth had overspray on it.
It's cast of aluminum maybe? Pot metal? Got me, I can ask Mike McG @ Charvel. He will def know the answer.
I doubt it's rubber or hard plastic.Henrik Danhage Sig Heavy Relic

Can you see the threads in the hole where the set screw goes? Do you see gold-colored metal? That's brass.

Probably leftover Fleckstone from the 80s
I don't see what anyone has against the knob, personally. Yes, it's different, but not apalling.

It's most definitely a metal, and seems coated in somethin like a cross between, a truckbed spray liner, sandpaper/grip tape. Maybe it's forged that way and only wet sprayed or something.
It has the best traction of any knob I've had, but the flat color doesn't mesh ideally with the rest of the more glossy black of the guitar.
I finally took the plastic off the pickguard. Wow rather difficult, had to remove some screws and the vol/toggle just to get it completely out.
Still extremely pleased, but haven't had the time to really get to know her, final exams this week/weekend.

I heard the material was sourced from Area 51. This could be a FMIC top secret material, and like it has already been said in 20 years could be worth more than the guitar itself or maybe even priceless.
The topic regarding this knob has got me curious and has created much GAS. I might have to get one of these already just because of this cool knob on these guitars.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.
