M2 - Yeah, they gave them names: San Dimas Style 1 2H, San Dimas Style 2 2H, and SoCal Style 1 2H.
We're just trying to figure out what to call them besides that and "USA Pro".

Joe - Yeah, I wasn't gonna be the one to say it

          How about calling them "FENDER"?

Well, for starters, they're Charvels, not Fenders, in case you hadn't noticed the logo on the head.

There's no logo on the back, just a sticker stating the license info.

                      Long-time-no-see.

And of course it's serious. Eventually these, just like all other models, will be referred to by a "catch-phrase" just like the serialized San Dimas models are now included in the "pre-pro" catalog, simply because they were made prior to the 1986 production models.

I always understood "pre-pro" referred only to those that were not serialized. My mistake?

                      The Model models are generally referred to by their Model number: 1, 2, 3, 3a, 4, 5, 6, 475, 375, 650, etc etc.

The San Dimas ReIssues are known simply as SD RIs.

The 25th Anniversary models are known as the 25th Anniversary models (imagine that) and sometimes 25ths.

The EVH Art Series models are known as EVHs.

                      Retros is taken as well.

So what are we going to call these? Certainly not "USA Pros" because of the massive confusion that would cause for the Jackson Professional models. It would fuel the fires of the uninformed who refer to those models as USA-made, and we cannot have that.

So, why would this thread NOT be taken seriously?

You have seen the word "pwned", correct? You do know that started off as a typo and will eventually (if it isn't already) make its way into Webster's Dictionary?

Same here. Whatever we pick as "the" term for these will eventually stick, be it USA Pro, Pro Mod, 08s, Farvels, Chenders, Perduction Models, S1/S2/SoCal, etc etc.

Unless you want to deal with the headache in 20 years of correcting noobs like we already have to do because of the rampant misinformation regarding the "Ft Worth USA" Charvels?

                        How about ...
old model series = Japanese Model Series = JMS
new model series = USA Production Model Series = UMS or = USMS

                        ?

Or how about "US Model Series" or "USA Series"?

ok ... I give up ... I guess only time will tell what these are called

USA Series would work for the production run itself, but what about the individual models? "USA Style 1"?

I'm thinking in terms of the Model series and the other "named" runs (Model, San Dimas ReIssue, 25th, Retro, Legacy, etc - the originals have "PrePro" and "Original 80s").
They all had "easy to remember" names that didn't merge them into each other, or confuse them with a Jackson run.

                          Still going....

I really can't believe that this actually needs to be discussed and the guitars have to be designated an abbreviation.

That said, why not USP's? Then just add "S1", "S2", "SC" etc on the end.
                              Why so serious?
