that may be the trademark dimarzio presence spike?
I really dont go for that myself i think i will stick to the duncans
maybe i will try a duncan distortion in my SDS1
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

I have a SD distortion that sounds like a cross between lynch and a single coil in my bengal mutt. Just the opposite of you guys.

I can never make up my mind which pickup I like the best. When I pick up the dimarzio guitar 1st and get used to hearing it, it makes the JB seem flat. Vice versa the JB sounds good then the dimarzio sounds glassy. I had a thing for the custom 5 for a while now it seems monotone. My Martin always satisfies though.

I don't have a SoCal but the Tone Zone has been finding its way into more and more of my Jacksons. I'm liking it more and more all the time. If I had a SoCal I'd probably leave the Dimarzios in it unless they sound vastly different in these new Charvels than my Jacksons.

Playing the So-Cal side-by-side with the SD1, I found the TZ in the So-Cal to be richer sounding, while the JB in the SD1 to be a tinny bit more harsh sounding.
