there's the custom shop for that.

you won't see lots of variations to suit every whim on this production line. they are making lots of only a few items with little to no choice on components/options, to keep costs/price down.

at some point, people are gonna be 2 hum, floyded, maple-necked out. You can only buy so many of the same guitar (even if they are different colors).

And I would think a hardtail costs less than a floyd, so if anything i'm helping them lower costs.

Will be so simple for them to do a single hum at some point...I plan on grabbing a green or blue, but single hum I'd have to go ahead and grab another.....

I'm starting to wish that they would STOP making guitars I want. I can see that this could get real ugly, real quick.

I suppose transparent finishes are out of the question because of the 3 piece body. I would love to see a trans emerald green finish on the SD1 if it were a 2 piece body. Is it harder (more expensive) for them to do a trans finish? No quilt top, just transparent.

Then you'd have a neck angle change for the hardtail... they're on the body like a V-trem or recessed Floyd and have no neck angle. The non-recessed Floyd that Charvel is using now has the neck tilted back to allow the trem off the body higher. Don't know if they would have to change the angle of the pocket or use shims or whatever, but an extra charge might come in to play for that.

oh I'm with ya, I'd love some variety too like the Models.
the rosewood is why I bought my Model 2. I wanted rosewood for that guitar back then.
