The new production models have 6 digit serials, so Richard's could be a prototype or maybe a very early one they used to show dealers or something.

I played mine for abot 15 min today as well as a So Cal and mine seems to have little beefier neck not by much tho'.
I cranked both thru a 900 Marshall and mine has some big tone. The So Cal is a different animal with the DiMarzio's I liked it too.Really? well screw Mark Twain.

The dealer said it came from the rep's car and we all know the rep's have some NAMM leftovers and first run production stuff so maybe I got lucky. The fist red one the dealer sold had a 6 digit number.Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I did, just today. They all felt the same in terms of profile -- slightly thicker than I expected, actually, and definitely a little thicker than the old SDs I've played and than my MIJ Model-series Charvels. Very nice, though. The frets on the So-Cal weren't finished nearly as well as the other two, but I figure that's just an early production thing.
Right now I'm leading toward the Style 1, but I'm going to go back and spend some time playing it side by side with the So-Cal through a couple of different amps. I'll probably buy one this weekend.

Anyone know if the top bout of the Style 2 is larger than the top horn of the Style 1? The JTXs I've had were all ditched for the same reason: protruding top bout was uncomfy. If the S2s are as comfy as the S1s, I might get one.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
