I also got a Warmoth replacement guard. My 11 holes lined up fine, but my bridge p/u hole was a hair too low for the route on the body, but it just barely fits since the p/u sits so high.

it's the control-mount holes where I found it much easier just to order the guard with no holes and drill my own to match the stock Charvel guard. way easier than routing the body to match a plastic guard, no?

Thanks ... and thanks for posting your pic earlier. I saw your post before I did mine and felt better about buying from Warmoth. What I didn't anticipate was the Volume knob placement. I think if I were to do it again, I would take your suggestion and order it without the holes drilled, and do it myself. There's more wood in between the lower trem post and the volume knob than a Fender Floyd Rose Classic.

Also, if I understood your description correctly about the bridge hole being too low --- I found that the hole was placed too close to the Floyd. I think we found the same thing. The result is that the humbucker cutout extends over the unrouted area between the bridge pickup area and the Floyd by about an 1/16th inch or slightly less. The neck pocket cutout being too narrow compounds the problem. Once I sanded the neck pocket cutout on the pickguard, the fitment was fine. Still, this makes it slightly more challenging to get the pickup assembly on there in the end.

Another observation.....I ordered my humbucker cutout from Warmoth with the "Fat" option. This results in the corners or the cutout being rounded off and hiding as much of the pickup as possible. I like the look of it, but you'll need to do some minor sandpaper work if you install a Duncan Trembucker as I did. A standard pickup or a Dimarzio F-spaced would work fine.

yeah the fat holes look cool and are essential with white. with black, not as big a deal. I didn't even notice that as an option LOL

I like this stock vol knob placement much better than the std Fender placement, which is just too close to the p/up for me.

just curious... anyone who had bought one from warmoth.. can you specify which humbucking route you went with? they offer 3.. humbucker, fat humbucker and trembucker.. all three have different screw spacings and opening sizes..

also, what about the thickness? did you go with 0.06" thickness (vintage) or modern? wondering if there will be a problem with the area under the neck shelf - even the stock pickguard barely fits under there.. so i'm concerned about thickness

also, anyone have a source for a knob that will not require modification? the knob of death will probably be swapped out at the same time a new pickguard arrives for aesthetic reasons..

I went for the fat humbucker route as it is more form fitting around the pickup since the dimarzio is has rounded edges. I ordered the standard/default thickness and it fits without any issues under the fretboard hangover.

I'm not sure of the exact thickness measurement, but it seemed about as thick as the stock one that came on the SoCal. Not sure exactly though. Warmoth might have that info on their site or you might be able to email them and get that info. The one I ordered was the silver pearl and black pearl and I just accepted the default thickness.
