  • Torn between a San Dimas Tele and Strat style!

I am about to purchase a new Charvel and I am torn between a San Dimas Tele and Strat style.

How thick is that neck compared to say my PC1?

Any idea as to what Duncans they are? I assume that they are not Duncan Designed ?

Then again the Tele look just does not work with the Strat headstock in my book....

Teles are ugly no matter what headstock they have. The dicision is easy, Strat. The hard part is which Strat style, with or without a pickguard

The strat without the pickguard. That's your choice.

I think that is the look I'm leaning towards..

The necks are slightly thinner than the PC-1, but are only 22 fret so upper access isn't as good. The Tele body shape is cool, it's different from your run of the mill strat. And the Strat head fits the body, don't worry about that.

Play both. A tele sits slightly different than a strat just from the strap button placement and the weight distribution. Make a call after you've played both. If you have a number of strats already, a tele is nice one to add to the mix. I'd also suggest you compare the sound of the SD1 and the So-Cal (the strat w/ the pickguard). You'll notice a difference, even unplugged.

I probably am, but the choice is Tele or Strat not Tele or me, and the Tele is still ugly

vklobucar:Thank You for referring to the "Tele". We have a thread in here about what these new models are to be called.I stated that it would be called a Tele no matter what.
Anyway to the subject:Go for the Strat style.I love my So-Cal.I opted for the So-Cal.I have 3 other Jackson & Charvels w/no PG.AND I love the Tone Zone in it.
Go take one for a rippppppp.

This is somewhat unrelated, but how many original San Dimas-era "Teles" had Strat headstocks? The current model looks weird with that combination...

The overwhelming majority had Tele headstocks. Who cares though, a Strat head is cool no matter what body it's on.
