I'm toying with the idea of slightly shaving/sanding the neck to make it just a little more comfortable. How much could I get away with before causing problems?

My CS strathead is thinner than the new production models, so you can definitely go thinner safely. I bet you'd be fine taking it down into pointy territory, which was about .750 at the 3rd to .810 at the 12th. I don't think you would be in any danger of getting too close to the truss rod, or causing weakness or instability. Not sure I'd go much thinner than that, but maybe you could.

i recently had mine shaved down , because i liked the way my demartini blood drip felt, its slighly thinner/flater. So i had my tech shave it down slightly thinner than my Blood drip . its been about 3 weeks and no problems at all neck is straight and stays in tune fine. in total i say he took off about 2mm .
