  • Just played a SoCal....

Good lord what a wonderful guitar!!!

Light, great neck profile, nice finish (I'm a huge fan of oil finished necks), had a really great player's vibe to it. Like i just needed to go gig with it.

Now I gotta get a green one.

in about 5 hours mine is going to be doing its 4th show.

I love the guitar and it is very easy to play.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Are there really that many? I've seen only one maybe two used ones on eBay a week and there's only one up on craigslist right now.

Yesterday, Manny's in NYC had 2 So-Cal's, 2 SD 1s and 1 SD 2. I checked out the SD 1's and the So-Cal's. The first SD 1 I played - Candy Red, was great until I tried the So-Cal's which seemed a bit more lively and resonant. All three played very smoothly. The staffer brought out a black SD 1 from the store room and that one - even with buzzy action, blew the previous three away in terms of playbility and sound.

Despite my preference, I must say, I'm usually a non-pickguard guy, but the So-Cal's were very cool.
