  • Not a Jake!

Finally got around to making a proper pickguard. I'm not totally happy with the final product so I'll probably refine it a bit more and cut a 2nd one. Doesn't look bad though ..

Looks awesome K - though I'm amazed that after all this time, that's the first pics of any of these with the strange new pickguard layout

                Nice!
                Did you cut that yourself?
What pickups are you using? JB and SDS's?

Yeah I cut the guard myself ...

Those came stock with a Duncan Custom/Custom and SDS's

What type of bit did you use?
I wanted to make a guard like that for mine, but I ended up modding my WD Products 1 slanted single into a 1hum.

for the outer I used a 3/8 router bit and a 45 degree router bit. For the 5 way, volume and screw holes I did those on a CNC

                        Cool, thanks man!
                        Here's mine:

I had a JB in it but I didnt like it much, so I put an '85 with an 18v mod.
I might try the Custom Custom next time around. I also have a Kahler knock off on it, and a Charvette pointy, so it's not very accurate, but it's ok for now.

Well I'm gonna build a more accurate version this winter with a hardtail and the SDS's and maybe a 3 bolt neck plate like Jake's.

                          Very cool!
I too have been waiting to see someone put what I consider the "proper" pickguard on one of those.

                            Looks great, K.

Are those pearl tuner buttons? Or just the flash?

Very cool. I've always loved the way Jake had his single coils slanted that way.
