Quick first impression on my new San Dimas!

-neck is really smooth and buttery. Kind wished it was just a little chunkier ala my PC1 but still wide enough with plenty of meat...

-knurled knob looks like crap but I must confess is very practical in terms of grip.

-Floyd needs to be really flush with the body. None of this 3mm floating crap. Either back route for a true floating trem or flush mount it. My local luthier will need to route the neck pocket a few mm deeper to accomodate a real flush mount style trem.

-Dunlop Straplocks straight from Charvel for once!!!!

-Great harmonics and tone from the JB. Not totally sold on the neck pup though...

-Grovers look like crap. After all these years of cool looking Ping or Gotoh tuners that at least look like Schallers we get this bloody crap set? Yuck!

-If this was a 24 fret neck the guitar would be perfect!!

Off to string it up with some 11's and really put it through its paces!

There's no need to do anything to the neck pocket. Drop the trem to the body, put metal shims under the saddles to raise them up so you don't fret out. I did that on the '05 Charvel Star I had.
