  • Logo guitar

I added a Charvel logo guitar to my collection. The painted neck and fretboard makes it play/feel like a soloist.

I'd be scared of playing it just in case I took the paint off the neck.

That's only a part of the collection from what I remember. Isn't it about time you did another group shot?

+1 I've never understood how you can play them and not remove or even scratch the paint.

Oh, and that Black and White Bengal with the matching headstock is sweet.

Haven't you guys ever seen or played an older maple fretboard Fender, where the neck and fretboard are clearcoated? Same thing, only there is paint under those coats of clear. It's natural feeling and very durable. No worries about taking the paint off. That would take a long, long time with heavy playing to do.

Cool guitar, Trace. That was from Summer NAMM, no? Congrats.

I imagine playing it feels just like my (painted fretboard) zebra. I was told that doing the fretwork on painted fretboards is such a b**ch, that they didn't look forward to ever doing another after mine.

Trace: I remember seeing that on display at NAMM (photo's) Looks awesome w/all your other Charvels

Why the need to put "Charvel" on the headstock? :ROTF:

Oh my, how did I not think of that. My Fender 50's Precision Bass reissue has a heavily clearcoated maple fretboard/neck. I love the feeling of that neck. It's thicker than a baseball bat but it's so comfy. The neck has ridiculously low frets so gives a pseudo-fretless feeling to the bass. I put flatwounds on it and I can(well, used to be able to) nail the Steve Harris sound and technique.
