The wiki idea would be cool if manage to find the time to develop it. You could always leave up the existing information either way.

My vote is to leave it up. It's informative and the last of the originals
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

        Agreed!

I have a question about JCF. How long has this site been up? I heard that there was an old version of JCF as well, then it got updated to what we have now.

Yeah, leave the site up if you can Bret. It's nice to still have one of the 'old school' sites still up and running. In terms of it not being current, I don't see a big problem. Maybe change some of the text to highlight it's about the original SD guitars, and so doesn't cover the more recent history...

An update would be great. The wiki idea would be very cool, if it can be made to work. Otherwise, just leave it up - it still has great value.

                Bret,

If it is possible to leave it for some of us less tech savvy oldsters....or if it can be updated in a way that is user friendly to YOU then its a great site and more than appreciated by all.

I also know you take great pride in everything you do. If you are viewing the current website with a jaundiced eye due to 'embarrassment, etc." (as a personal reflection of your work) then by all means don't let us talk you into additional work. Live life, play your LP and SD's, and give Allen and the gang a hard time! I'm not in opposition to the great ideas discussed here but...
If YOUR schedule does not allow you to devote the time and energy required to maintain a site that YOU are satisfied with then can there be alternatives? Worst case could we perhaps somehow incorporate your data into the JCF? Not a suggestion..just thinking out loud.

I also want to do a personal thank you to Bret in front of the forum for being the guy that advised me on the purchase of my two 85 Soloists. I wanted them, but wasn't expert enough to be sure on a couple of details. Bret was a friend of a friend and took the time and effort to advise me. I love the guitars and might not have them had it not been for Bret. You're a class act and well appreciated. BTW, don't sell that 3 PU Explorer before checking with me...I'd love to have it.

                Greg

Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?

Thanks a lot guys! I appreciate the comments. I am taking some time off for the holidays so perhaps I can dedicate a couple late night writing and photography sessions to it.

Greg, I played that Explorer at The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax Halloween night. It was fun to have it out live.

To answer the previous question, the first Jackson fan site built by Rob Lane was launched in early 1997. Mine followed later that year. A few others popped up and on each of the sites there existed message boards, bulletin boards, and pre-EZ board discussion groups. I think I hosted the JCF for a short period of time before we moved it to EZ-board. It was then moved to its own entity with the URL www.jcfonline.com and has evolved and grown ever since. The list of guilty parties involved over the last 12 years or so is long an indistinguished!

The one good thing about his history is that it rarely changes. So, just because the content might be old shouldn't neagate the importance of it's content.
