I looked at the fender price list at MSRP and the charvel's was higher then a bunch of their guitars. Highway, and even some of the signature models are cheaper.
compare the 2 999-1099 for the fender standard. Besides the trem( there may not be that much in cost between the korean floyd and the bridge on the fender).
Fender has one more pickup, one or 2 piece bodies not 3, probably better tuners, a better pickguard, more pots and lastly OPTIONS! Colors and fretboards.
I am in no way saying the fenders are better! Most of them cost more because they can charge more and people pay it just like what is going to happen with these charvels.

The Fender American series strats also come with a very nice hard case as opposed to a gig bag.

I had typed that in at one point and forgot I took it out. Another issue we were sold on for cutting costs.

It's my understanding, from an old thread when these were first announced, that the Charvel bodies are rough-cut on Fender's CNCs.

More specifically, the rectangular body blanks are put on Fender's CNC millers and routed into a Strat and Tele shape, then they are removed and sent over to the Charvel side of the building. That's it. No pickup, control cavity, bridge routing, or neck pocket routing.

If you use your neighbor's table saw to cut wood planks for a fence, did your neighbor build the fence?

If they work the saw they helped. Same as making the parts in Mexico and accembling them in the US what is it i.e Highway fender?

Depends on how much wood they actually cut. Rough-shaping a rectangular blank into a silhouette with no control, pickup, bridge, or neck pocket doesn't constitute "made by Fender".

But if the fact that it actually gets near the Fender side of the building or is touched by guys wearing Fender-logoed shirts or is being rough-milled on Fender's machines bothers you...

I personally don't care who does them or in what country, a cnc done body as long as the tolerences are the same is fine with me. No "MOJO" from a machine especially on a body. It's the price tag that botters me-other people are the ones getting bent out of shape that fender cnc machines touch them. If the program is there and you can lock a block of wood in place it can't be that difficult.

Fender makes several Tele models with 12" radius. And lots with a 9.5" radius.

Candy colored guitars sound completely different than non-candied paint. You'll never be able to NAIL Vai's tone with a Candy Green guitar.

The only tele guitar uglier than a Charvel strathead tele is a real fender tele.

I hate 'em too! Tele's are some of the ugliest guitars ever made. And that goes for both the body and the headstock
