He said it was no big deal.
When you say string block, you mean on the Floyd? Can't you just take the string lock screw out, and re-install it threading it straight? Or is the Floyd defective?

Otherwise good luck with your new axe!

    Happy New Year!

a couple nights ago i was at a mall in Bellevue, Wa. and was looking at some guitars at a store there. This stunning dark haired young lady asked me if there were any Floyd Rose's I had seen in there. I told her no, just wannabe's on some guitars. She said she didnt think so, and that her Grand Father was Floyd Rose. No real point to this, except the future looks bright for Floyd guitars.... Sweet kid

Yeah, Thats what I wanted to do but its in so tight, the allen wrench having trouble, thats why I will have it professionally looked at. Im not that worried, the little square block is wiggling which obviously means that its not threaded, but other than that I love it!

If it was an OFR, I would say put some torque into it and just unscrew it! Not sure if the Ping versions are as durable and hard. Still, what do you think a "tech" is going to do? Turn it until it comes out! I would give it a shot. Remove it, grease it up, and re-install.

Interesting! I wonder if Floyd Rose still gets royalty payments on every trem sold? Or did he sell out to Fender years back?

It would be cool if her name was Rose Rose!

WOW! I'm retarded, I didn't go to the tech at all, the screw was tight because the string wasn't placed in the hole all the way. I loosened the screw, changed the string, pushing it all the way into little rectangular base, and then it tightened perfectly! I don't know why it came set up like that, but hey, now the guitar and action is perfect and flat out rocks. I took it to guitar center today and almost every employee there was like "Wow those new Charvels look awesome" The Tangerine So-Cal was worth every penny and I really dig the knob of death!

Excellent! I always give stuff a try first, and go to a tech as a totally last resort. Thanks, Dan Erlwine's Guitar repair book!

I got my new-to-me SD-1 in blue today! It needs a setup BADLY, but so far the neck is as close to an old Charvel as I have ever felt! Awesome! And the paint is top notch, electric looking.

The Floyd looks like an OFR to me. How do you tell if it's Korean? Is it marked anywhere no the trem?

Underneath the base plate there would be a little stamped square that says "Made in Germany" if it was an OFR. -But I love the Korean ones on the new Charvels! Glad mine is working in tip-top shape now!

So far, the Korean Floyd performs flawlessly, and looks like an OFR to me. I may spring for a real Floyd if I see any signs of paint flaking off or something that doesn't feel right, but for now, it's fine.

My guitar came with this device called a Tremel-no. It's a brilliant tremelo stop that turns the guitar into a stop tail (if you want), or a dive-only (as if it was resting against the body). Really cool device. The first of it's kind that I've tried that doesn't mess up the tuning when you activate it or deactivate it!

Ebay - The seller lives 20 minutes from me, and he delivered it to my house after I paid for the guitar!

Yeah. I was debating pulling the trigger on buying a brand new SD-1, in blue. Then I saw this one on eBay - my color, mint shape, and just 20 minutes from me - at substantial savings! Ho-ho-ho, I thought! Bought it now!

Haha Cool! Mine is kind of ironic because I live in CA, but don't live next to a dealer so I ordered one from NY (last Tangerine I could find) and then it came back to CA!!! So mine has already been on the other side of the continent and back!

Hey, at least you got what you wanted - frequent flyer guitar miles and all!

Next mod will be to ditch the JB in favor of a Custom. The JB has a nasal sound that annoys me.
