You might have to move quicker than that if you want one in that colour, when the first batch of Prod series came into the UK in Nov, dealers only got 1 of each model, and there were only 5 dealers.....I had to move real quick to get my green SoCal.

The UK didn't get the first batch of colours, only the second run.

I saw the new batch in the flesh today. Well, except the slime green. Oddly, that one wasn't there. I was in a rush, though, so didn't have time to ask the salesdude about it.

The Pagan Gold on the SoCal is just smoking! Pics do not do this color justice. I often see pics that make this finish seem kind of like a Les Paul Goldtop. But, in person, it's much more like a metallic yellow, with a lot of metalflake in it.

The Candy Purple is without a doubt the best finish they've done yet. Kind of right in the middle of the red/blue spectrum, and a lot of metalflake in this finish, too. Too bad it's on the Tele. I would've bought one on the spot, if it had been on the SoCal or Strat.

Killer color choices by the Charvel guys. Best color batch so far, IMHO.

Fender American Strats may have a case but they don't Floyds, they have standard trems, and they don't have Duncan or Dimarzio humbuckers, they have single coil Fender pickups. There is nothing out there right now that I would consider buying in that price range that can compete with Charvel.

Well I'm a little amazed no one came back with a quick answer to the question myself. I guess the MSRP/MAP thing must be a big secret for some reason. Either that, or you are correct about it being MSRP and the dealers don't want their customers knowing they're trying to get full MSRP out of these guitars...

Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter since I already have mine and I certainly won't be getting another one unless I run across one selling for what it is actually worth.

What's wrong with dealers trying to earn a little money.....who would take a wage cut if asked? There are not many of these guitars around (especially here in the UK where we have to pay a fair amount more) but to me, they are worth the money, the neck is just fantastic. USA made, not far eastern. Great value as far as I'm concerned.....when the Slime Green arrives....it's mine!!!

Nothing at all wrong with making a little money. The thing I don't get is why the big secrecy over whether the $1099 represents the MSRP or MAP.

It's just information the consumer can use to make an informed decision before making a purchase. Don't see what's wrong with making that information public unless there is a reason they want to hide it. Not our fault there's an MSRP, MAP, then an even lower actual purchase price you reach after haggling, when it comes to buying guitars, but that's the model the industry created.

To be correct, they are USA made, but with some far eastern parts to keep costs down. I think if these came with an OFR and case like they should for the price, no one (or a lot fewer people anyway) would be saying much about the price.

The trouble is, is that if you put an OFR on as standard, it makes the custom shop guitar prices look pretty stupid and will have an affect on sales. The same happened with the 90-91 Japanese Jackson's. The hardware was the same as the full blown US versions which obviously hurt sales of the upper end guitars. I know that there is not much difference in real terms regarding the price of the different hardware but, I suppose that C/J have to try an differentiate between the two lines in some way.

Hey guys, I understand the confusion with the pricing on these guitars. Fender realizes the whole MSRP, MAP and then the haggled to pricing thing has gotten silly. There is no MSRP on these guitars. It doesn't exist. There is just the price that Fender says a dealer needs to sell these guitars for $1099. I can tell you for sure that dealer cost on these is not equal to what dealer cost would be if these had a MSRP or retail price of $1099. As a matter of fact, for what dealer cost is, with the typical Charvel/Jackson pricing and discounts, these guitars would have an MSRP of $1499.

Seriously, there's no conspiracy here. Everybody knows that an MSRP is worthless, including the manufacturers. Fender is trying something new here and said lets eliminate the BS retail price thing because no one pays attention to that anyway. Not dealers and not consumers.

I actually took the 1000 map and figured out the Retail to be 1433 on the first runs
                            but what Chubtone said...

there is not a "retail" price... 1099 is the MAP price

That slime green looks great. It would be a great color for someone doing an '80's tribute thing. Or for people still sort of stuck in the '80's... like me...
