  • What sounds can you get out of your USA Pro?

    Hi,

Recently, I've been getting more in to the blues-based roots of my musical tastes and the last few nights I've been finding myself using that SD neck pickup. I've been enjoying playing funky 7th and 7sus4 chord progressions, interpersing them with right hand picking and pentatonic minor based solos with added fourth dyads. It all sounds typically 'strat-like' when I use a heavy picking action. The thing is though, the ultra-fast Charvel neck makes this all the more enjoyable. I've got other guitars that are supposedly more suited to 'the blues' so why do I keep grabbing my SD1?

What range of music/styles do you play on yours?

I set my SoCal up as an H-S-S. I like to play bluesy/rock stuff like Hendrix and SRV all the way to Maiden, Scorpions, and old-school Metallica. That combo lets me do all of that on one guitar, and then some.

I play a lot of blues and classic rock, and actually had to do some Jazz the other day. I had no problem getting the sounds I needed out of my SoCal. You need to separate image from function.

I guess, I'm like many Charvel owners in having a thing for '80s rock and metal and this (coupled with the good price) is why I was so keen to bag one of the currently available USA pro series.

I reckon these Charvels more versatile than many give them credit for. What range of music/styles do you play on yours?

With a coil split they are as versatile as any other 'cookie cutter' guitar out there. The tone you get to play the style you're after will ultimately come from your amp and/or what effects you use in the signal chain.

Dont get stuck in JAcksons or Charvels are only good for 80s metal. They will sound good with blues, rock, country, old metal new metal. Whatever. Its all in how you set your amp and or effects. Plus youre playing style and techinique> Mine play what ever i want them too. If they dont play it. I send them to thier room with out supper.

              ^---- THIS!

Here's a video i made a while back showing its versatility
Not many demos showcasing the clean sounds of the Charvel So-Cal model guitars exist so here is my attempt at a short review.

but yes of course this guitar can do 80's rock..
