this isnt my first post, i dropped by here a while ago to inquire about the body wood of my guitar, but im here to stay now. ive heard from various sources that there is a lot of hate for the post Fender Jacksons, i dont understand why, i love mine. its a jackson DK2 with duncans in it, i got it for 350 on clearance. it plays a lot nicer than most of the mid 90s jacksons ive played, I dont know about the 80s ones since ive never played any.

im also currently scraping together some money for an 80s Charvel or Jackson import, so id like some advice on which ones of those are good and which ones suck, i figure this is the place to come for that kind of advice.

What sources? ebay scammers like to say "pre-Fender" to fool the uninformed. If those are your sources, welcome to this site where you will learn the truth.

Also, the pre vs. post Fender means nothing to imports. In fact, imports got upgraded a few years back. Instead of Duncan Designed, they got real Duncans, and they also got an upgraded trem.

You hear a lot of horse shit about how Fender ruined the quality but the fact is, Jackson has had its ups and downs even from guitar to guitar... I have a Pre-Fender Soloist that had a drill bit broken off in the headstock at the factory when the guy was mounting the tuners. He clipped the screw in half and shipped it.

Jackson quality overall is very very good, but it ain't all good on either side of the buyout is all I'm saying. And yeah, it's just BS invented by Ebay sellers to justify a higher price for an old guitar.

As far as the DK2 vs. older Jacksons, well... It depends. A $1500 USA Jackson with a bad setup and worn out frets will play worse than a lot of guitars. But I do think the DK2 is a pretty nice guitar.
