Jackson Pro Series advice

The dkmg was close but the dxmg felt like a bat.

There is NO consistancy. I hate fat necks. I bought a used DXMG at GC earlier this year just to play with for 30 days. Great great neck, very thin and fast. This was a fairly new DXMG as it looked unplayed.

I should have kept that one for $250, but I still have too many guitars higher end than this, and I was afraid it wouldn't get much play.

Standard, XL, and Pro (in that order of features). They all had differences in inlays, woods, etc. Seems from what I'm hearing here I may be wrong... But the standards had rosewood, dot inlays, and no binding, XL has rosewood (mine is really dark, looks like ebony) with MOP sharkies and full binding (headstock too), and the Pro is neckthrough with MOP sharkies, fully bound ebony board (and headstock). At least that's what I remember..

I was really looking at the current Pro series models, namely the KV5FR and the SL3 as VitaminG said. The Charvel website doesn't give the neck thickness measurements for comparison with those given on the Jackson site. With my steel ruler and the naked eye, it looks to be about 3/4" at the 1st and 7/8" at the 12th.

Looking at Harmony Central I'm a bit worried about some of the reviews on the SL3 in terms of build quality. Can't find any reviews on the KV5FR but it seems reasonable to assume they would have similar problems if these reports are accurate.

I could get a similarly specd import BC Rich V copy for quite a bit less and their new gunslingers are cheap too. Are they worth investigating as an alternative?

The thinnest neck I've had on any JAckson Is my Stealth Pro. Ultra thin neck super fast and feels great. It is a 1 11/16ths nut. just like the others. But its thinnes doesnt make it feel like it. If you need a narrower nut/string spacing try a MM Axis or a wolfgang. But its not a JAckson so why bother.
The PS4 is very similar in size and shape to the Stealth neck. As is an Older KE3. The new KE3 and Dinky seem to have the same neck to me.
