Man it burns my ass to hear about crap like this. There has been a few incidents of stolen gear here recently as well. Not long ago, someone drove off with a bands trailer full of gear they loaded up, went back into the bar to get paid and someone actually unhooked thier trailer and drove off with it..... Balls huh?

Anyway, I am really sorry for your loss. Some really fine looking guitars there. Just like everyone else was saying, I would go to the pawn shops and music stores, I would also print those pictures out and give them to those stores and ask them to call you and the cops if someone brings one in.

I hope they catch these assholes and you get your stuff back. PLEASE keep us posted.

I talked to my insurance guy and I don't think there's going to be a problem. Typically things that you use for business are excluded, so luckily I've never even been paid to play anywhere... The question didn't come up about the guitars, but did about my laptop.

Yeah, I'm going to call my buddy at Guitar Center on the southside and I'll call the north side, too. I need to get all the serials to the cops ASAP.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys. Honestly I'm not optimistic about getting them back and in any case, honestly, except for the blue Charvel which is irreplaceable and probably technically not worth much at all, I'd rather get paid for them since they were dragged out "fistful of guitars" style with no cases and probably thrown in the back of someone's car. I mean, I doubt seriously they're in very good shape at this point, certainly not mint like they were.

Sorry to hear about that, Jazz. I'm in Chicago so I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything in these parts as well.

Did you insurance guy ask for serial numbers, or ask you to validate the worth of the guitars? I often wonder about if something like that happened to me if insurance would pay you what they're worth. Most of the stuff I have is pretty rare, so I'm not sure if I'd get screwed in a 'replacement value' loophole.

                That sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm on Ebay all the time so I as well will keep my eyes peeled for those. I really dig that blue Charvel of yours. Everyone here has offered good advice.

One thing I do when I get gear is take a few detailed pics, write the ser # on the receipt, staple the receipt to the photo's and put them in my safe. If something were to happen, at least I have some proof that they were mine and the value.

Then again, breaking into my house would be stupid. If I'm there, whoever is stupid enough to pull the stunt will be staring down the barrel of a shotgun and they'd probably lose a few kneecaps until the cops show up. If I'm not home, they'll be greeted by 2 pissed off Akita's and a German Shephard. (The Shephard hangs out in the rehearsal area while I'm at work)

Lucky your guitars are so custom. Liquidating them won't be so easy. If you're a member of other forums...ie: bcrichplayersforum, kramer forum, etc.... I'd get this posted on there as well.

Best of luck. Hope you get your gear back..and for whoever took the guitars, that they have their hands cut off. Theives are truly scum.

Whew. Busy morning making calls and digging out receipts. I have serial numbers for all of them now (after a few calls) to report to the police... As soon as I can get a hold of them.

So I actually went over a few of these with the Insurace Adjuster and he basically said, receipt, picture, the hang tag, something to substantiate that I owned them, which I can do for all of them thankfully, I think. The one I'm a little iffy on I'm about to try and take care of... I have the hang tag but never got to take pictures and don't have an invoice/reciept for it. I just bought the damned thing like a month ago!

Thankfully, I think at least so far, I have "guaranteed replacement cost" insurance. In the case of my SL1's which were dead mint/brand new obviously I'd consider a new SL1 equivalent, but I have some used ones too.

I wasn't sure how that would work, so for example, I asked him about the used DK1, I flat out told him I bought it used and how much I paid for it, and asked if that's what I would get.... He told me was that they don't care if it was used or not, they will pay me what it costs to replace it with a new guitar of the same model (if available) or as close as they could come.

Where it gets tricky is the SL2 and the Model '88 since you can't buy those. The SL2 is roughly equivalent to an SL2H, but I'm not sure if that works. But given the example he told me of, not being able to buy a 4 megapixel camera anymore, they would replace it with the lowest megapixel camera available with similar features, "always up" I think (hope) that they will pay out the cost of an SL2H.

The '88 is really... Irreplaceable. Can't even get African Mahogany. And I did a LOT of work to that. And it's been around forever. But, they don't pay for "intrinsic value" so I don't know how that will work out. I don't see me coming out too well on that one.

I called both local Guitar Centers and told them to be on the lookout for used USA Jacksons and esp. a Custom Shop Charvel with gold hardware.

Sorry for the wall of text. It's helping me to vent.

No worries, we're all keeping up with your updates, keep us in the loop.

Call the little stores too....take the time to do it, I'm guessing they go there first. If I were a thief I'd avoid GC because I'd figure they're corporate & would have all sorts of policies- For example, do they cut you a check for used gear or give you cash? If it's a check, no way Jose- I ain't giving you a way to find me.

I cross posted this on kramerforum.com as USA DK1 suggested- good thought there. You've got the full force of a couple thousand screaming Kramertards looking for trouble now too

I had that happen to me in the early 90's... a Kramer and Charvel 88 LTD (#121). Got both of them back, in the same shape they were in

                          Good luck

100% term of endearment- I consider myself a very proud Kramertard indeed- Retarded for Kramers . Jacksontard & Charveltard just doesn't have the same punch.

That's revolting man, not only that all of your guitars are gone, but that they're out there with cases

I'm definately going to be scouting Ebay, Craigslist, Kijiji, etc.
