I just checked back on the thread from home where I can see the pictures of the guitars. When I saw the white custom and the blue 88 I almost started crying for real.

I'm sorry this happened to you, I hope you can recover them in good condition. They are all beauties.

Sorry for the cussing but the memory of the theft that happened to me 20 years ago still hits a nerve.
I have Erie. They're pretty good from what I hear, I've been a customer of theirs for about 15 years and never made a claim so I guess it's my "day in the barrel."

But from what I understand most people who are denied coverage on homeowners insurance for guitars it's because they gig and get paid.

Same as anything else you might have which is used for business/to make money, "homeowners" covers your personal property but if it's used for "business purposes" then they don't cover it.

The guy didn't ask me about using the guitars for gigging (guess he has heard me play? ) but he did ask about the laptop, if it was used for work.

Yeah, the '88 was kind of beat up, it's had a hard life, but man, I just don't know what to do about that one. My buddy I recently got it back from was upset, too. I never even got to install the parts I bought from Dave (fretsonthenet) to fix it up.

I've got some eyes out in the local pawn shops looking for USA Jacksons. It's kind of funny, I think these guys probably thought they scored big and I'm hoping they're about to find out what happens when you walk into a pawn shop with an armload of expensive guitars without cases which you have no idea what they're worth that the pawn shop owners are like "I'm not touching that shit" and call the cops. I HOPE. But, I'm not too optomistic about that. Hell they might just strip all the parts off and put the pickups and tremolos on Ebay, who knows. How do you part out a NECK THROUGH guitar? With a saw?

Wow, that is HORRIBLE news! I certainly hope that the outcome is good. I know when I have taken my stuff to the pawn shops in the past, I had to fill out all sorts of forms which are sent to the local PD, so that will be great fun for these punks! Good luck, and keep us all posted on what happens, Jazz.

Holy fuck bro! That sucks. I'll keep an eye on the bay and CL too. Hopefully you don't get double screwed with insurance. And hopefully these fuckers get caught.

Really sorry to hear about the guitars, bro. And... Really happy that your wife didn't come home while they were there. I'd love to walk in on them, but there'd be alot more sickness/rage if I heard my wife walked in and anything else was harmed. Hope for the best on getting the stuff back. And be happy the REALLY important things are all OK!!

As a footnote, ^^^ thats all true and most important, but I also hope...... When they find your gear, There's a few fuckers next to it with their balls falling from the exit side of a meat grinder, heads bashed in, and crack ground up on the floor next to them.... Sorry, blood's boiling, I hate scumbags!!

That sucks, dude. Insurance should cover it, mine covers guitars if theyre in the house. doesnt matter if your a gigging musician or not. If they get stolen out of my car or at a gig, tho, im screwed.

                    hopefully these clowns get caught.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

I don't even know what to say when I hear about stuff like this.....

Man I wish you the best in getting your guitars back or their value covered!!

I'll keep an eye out as well. That White Custom shop will stick out like a sore thumb where ever they take it! That's one of those awe inspiring guitars that even non-guitar players will notice.

Oh man, I am sorry to hear about this. I can't even imagine the rage I would feel if this happened to me. Have you combed Craigslist?

                                Update...

Met with the adjuster this morning. He was an ex-drummer. Pretty cool guy, very nice. He did not give me a bunch of BS or anything which is cool, because I gave him exactly what was stolen and nothing more (no "three diamond-encrusted Rolex watch" bullshit like some people try). They will even cover the EMG SA pickup set I had put in the Strat, which is cool.

Now, they submit this to a company that will find the items for sale (where available) and price them. I think I'm OK on the USA Jacksons and the CS Charvel because of MAP (I explained this to the guy) so pretty much anywhere they try should be pretty close to MAP.

Got a call back from a nice lady at the PD this afternoon. She gave me an email address to use to submit all of the serial numbers, which I did.

So the Indy PD have all the serials, and I told them I'd be able to identify the majority of the guitars even without a serial number by distinguishing features (saddle shims, upgraded tremolo blocks, repair work, etc.) and I am hoping that they get caught.

The deal is this: If the police recover the items, they belong to the Ins. company, but I have first dibs on buying them back. I told the guy I probably would not want them due to how they were mistreated by the thieves, except the '88 in which case, eh, you probably couldn't tell another ding or two, and I'd rather have it back than $899.

We're getting an alarm installed, and a new door tomorrow. Thinking about buying a shotgun, too. Maybe digging a moat and filling it with alligators, staking a few Pit Bulls out in the yard, land mines... I dunno. I never wanted an alarm because it says "Hey, we got stuff!" but there's at least one dirtbag running around that likes to kick doors in who already knows we got stuff, so, I guess I have nothing to lose. These aren't cat-burglars from a James Bond movie or anything.

BTW, they also stole a half-drunk bottle of whiskey. I wonder if this is the work of some juvenile delinquents? Whoever it is, I would not be surprised if they decide it's too hard to move hot USA Jacksons and they end up in a dumpster somewhere.
