  • Jackson PC3 trem/bridge info?

    Hi
I'm a newbie so go easy on my general lack of all things Jackson/Charvel...BUT I'm on my second PC3 because, like a TIT I sold the first one (I found it a bit bright and the Di Marzio Tone Zone I put in to compensate for the VERY weak pups didn't help) so bought a 2nd one. This one has the worst paint job from hell completely obliterating the nice maple top so I'm hoping to strip it back to it's former glory but my question is regarding the Wilkinson bridge/trem. I can't find any other PC3's that don't have a Floyd copy...what's the story with the Wilkinson because the tuning is an issue (there's a suprise!)

    Any info gladly accepted.

You can put locking tuners. Using nut lubricants also helps to improve tuning stability to some extend.

Use Sperzel's and a Graphtech trem nut and it should stay in tune alot better. I had a carvin with that setup and it rarely went out of tune,
      It's pronounced soops

Thanks for the replies...I think I didn't explain well enough. Both great replies and I have Sperzels on my Musicmans and have used liquid graphite in the nut back in the day. What I meant was I haven't seen a single PC3 with a Wilkinson and wondered why this didn't have a locking trem like the first one I had? Was there an option at the time cos I can't see any others without the locking nut and fine tuners of a Floyd or copy.

Earlier versions of the PC-3 came with the Wilkinson, then they switched to the licensed Floyd.

The first 2 years PC3's had Wilkinsons (1998-1999) then Jackson switched to the Floyd copy for the last 2 production years (2000-2001)
