  • New neck for PS-37?

Hey all, first post here so hopefully it won't sound too stupid.

I've decided to start tarting up my cheapie Rhoads and was wondering if anyone knew if Jackson ever did a 22 fret neck with slightly more interesting inlays than the boring old dots?
There's tons of really nice 24 fretters with bindings and sharktooth (or pirana) inlays all over the place, but they're no good to me since the guitar is only a 22.

Ideally, i'd love to find one with reverse headstock, locking nut and sharktooths (though i realise this may not even exist).............

    Anyone got any ideas?

Warmoth can make anything you want.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

As long as it isn't a RR24 model any bolt on RR neck should fit. An RR3 or an RX10d should fit it. And Warmoth goes off of Fender's specs on neck so the neck cavity width wont be right for that body.

they did make an RR3R. So you may be able to find a reverse headstock neck with sharkfins that will fit, since it is also a 22 fret Jackson.

btw and fwiw, it's actually a PS3T. The T differentiates the tunomatic & Floyded versions of the PS3. The script they used makes the T look like a 7. Common mistake.
        Hail yesterday

Since the RR24 is also neck-thru, how would you go about putting that neck on another guitar anyway?

I was wondering what the hell a PS37 was. I was thinking it was some Guitar Center Anniversary model or something

Indeed. Isn't their heel the Fender width thus not able to work on J/Cs?

I brain farted. My bad. I got schooled on that once already. But what did he mean by they won't make anything I want? It may not fit a J/C, but I don't know what you meant.

Thanks heaps for all the advice guys!
Correct me if i'm wrong, but installing a 24 fret in place of a 22 will screw things up won't it?
(probably a typical stupid noob question, but anyways.......)

If we were talking about a USA, you´d be right. But we´re not.

22 fret Performers have Fender spec neck pockets, both the japanese ones and the later abyssmal korean ones. Warmoth necks often fit better than the original did

thank you. i swear i've argued with ebayers over this fact and they always told me i was an idiot!!

its wierd that now a T stands for tune o matic(i.e. dkmgt) but back then it mean tremolo.

to the OP - theres one on ebay right now for 89 bucks that will work for ya. although it doesnt have sharkies, it will fit.

and yes the 24 fret neck will not work w/o modification.

Funny enough i actually had that neck in my Evilbay watch list, but they wont ship to OZ, and when i thought about it, with the exception of the offset dots, it's more or less identical to the neck i already have.

It's cool though, i'm not in a major rush so i can just keep my eyes open and hope something shows up.

Out of interest, what mods would need to be made to the 24? I'm guessing it'd be wider at the heel so either the body or the neck would need a slight shave? Plus it'd cause issues with intonation etc wouldn't it? (sorry, this is starting to turn into more of a "tech" topic)

basically the neck would have to be shifted closer to the bridge to keep the scale the same. in most cases this means the neck will run into the neck pickup cavity.
