• Any plans for Maple Boards?

Are there any plans for maple board jacksons / charvels in the future?

Also, can someone point me in the direction of some former production JC's that came with a maple board as stock, i will check the gallery when i get home though!

Thanks

Future, yes. Immediately, no.

I think I spec'd a NAMM custom with a maple fretboard - but I'm not sure if it was changed...

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE maple fretboards! When I tried to get them on some models I was told that dealers don't like them because they get dirty looking and require too much maintenance (see EVH Wolfies). I'm talking about oiled maple necks of course... Well, you can always go custom, or talk your dealer (or MATT @ ONLINE) into doing a small batch out of Japan....

The Dealers don't like them, so the consumers can take a hike. Nice.

Jackson won't do any kind of wood modifications on Limited Edition/Small Batch guitars without charging custom shop prices which negates the whole purpose of Limited Edition.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Maybe I'm missing something, McD, but this makes little sense to me. I mean, why should that matter? Most dealers aren't cleaning or maintaining the guitars after purchase. And, even if they are, why would they be whining about getting more (tech) business after the initial purchase? Or perhaps they're whining about "dirty" trade-ins later on down the line? Not to mention that many dealers, particularly the big, high volume ones (Guitar Center, MF, etc.), don't have a clue what guitarists really want. Present company excepted of course, Matt.

And the point is that folks shouldn't have to go custom or limited edition just for a maple board. Yeah, yeah, the PC1's a great guitar, but some people don't dig the larger neck profile. (...Not complaining, I own one and love it. Just stating others' opinions.) And, yes, I've gone the custom & LE routes, too. But you shouldn't have to just for a maple board.

And, yes, damn-bit, USA Charvels!!! Gumby wants them, damn-bit.

The way I understood that was dealers don't like the dirty fingerboards on new guitars from 14 year olds coming in and playing after eating greasy fries. Think Guitar Center.
I mean, can you imagine if someone actually monitered who plays the guitars and when and how? Or even cleans them up and takes care of them? We can't be asking our dealers to give a crap, now, can we?

pffft...
