your welcome .. and the answer to your question about the timing of editing.. We were having a problem with certain members.. when an issue would arise they would go back and edit all their posts from the thread leaving them not only useless but sometimes we would wonder what was in them ... we changed the feature so you are able to edit for 5 minutes after a post and then it locks ... so while you can still have the control over your edits you'll just need to be smart about what ya post ...

hope ya understand ..

Re: Any plans for Maple Boards?

Makes sense to me, Kev. Besides, maybe it'll make people give some more forethought to what they post, and cut down on some of the more inane stuff and/or flame wars.

Maybe post a general notice about it, so folks are now aware of this change, though? Just a suggestion.

Thanks again.

Re: Any plans for Maple Boards?

Hmmm. Troy musta been responding to the "Gnu-Metal moron" comment

And actually I think a new graphic-only Charvel line WOULD sell outside of this board, especially if the graphics were of modern icons like Hello Kitty, or if they went along with the t-shirts you always see these younger groups wearing (old Tide logos, etc). There was a discussion a while back about how you could get t-shirts that matched the original Charvels - tiger/zebra stripes, British flags, beer logos over the whole shirt, etc etc - so do them that way. Give them Bowling Shirt-style graphics, since those seem to be popular among the current groups.
As for the bodies, if Fender won't allow a full-size Strat body, do a rounded Dinky Strat style - still the same Strat shape, only 7/8 size without the flatter edges of a real Dinky.

I doubt there's any room in the guitar market for more flametops - especially Jackson's historically weak flame. The only Jackson I've seen with a killer top was the Archtop Soloist I had and the PC models - all the others are like 70's Les Pauls - thin, weak, and wide. If you can't win a "10 Top" fight with PRS, don't step in that ring. Stick to one thing, and do it better than anyone else. Graphic-only models are a niche market, yes, but what's the buying power of that market?
If all you can get to buy them are Gnu-Metal players, fine, at least they're selling. There were players who I'm sure not everyone listened to back in the 80's that had SD Charvels, so why should it be different now?
Outkast weren't exactly the second-coming of RATT, were they?

Re: Any plans for Maple Boards?

A few comment's

First I think the Charvels should be pointys for the same reason there will not be a strat head, branding. Pointys ARE Jackson/Charvel

The bolt on Model Charvels did not have a dinky body, The only diff between the Strat and Model's is the smaller radius on the edges (And I like that.. makes then look chunker)

My problem with the new import Charvels is not the price. (I paid $1099.00 for my M4/case new) but the dinky body, and UGLY headstock.

What I would REALLY like to see in a new USA Charvel is a lower cost pro quality USA guitar.. Something like the Fender Highway 1, or Gibson faded. Think good pickups, wood, dot inlays, hardtail or vintage trem, and a thin satin paintjob. Price about $800

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree with this Newc, but I fear the only buyers would be the people on this board. There are way to many nu-metal morons that don't understand/appreciate these features as much as we do... unfortunately. That's why the guitar I HAD ordered was a Star with bengal stripes and a Charvel style neck with a figured maple board!

Yes, I responded to the "Nu-Metal" statement and decided it wasn't worth wasting my breath on.

Look.. Allot of you lump me in that catagory because of my musical tastes... Yet, I LOVE Graphic guitars (Anyone remember my reverse Color DeMartini Blood Drip GMW?) AND Maple boards (ALL of my Gunslingers AND My GMW)...

Generalizing is what Morons do. You're not a moron just because you have different musical preferences.

'nuff said (Sorry Doc!)

Re: Any plans for Maple Boards?

Here's what Jackson SHOULD do... offer a choice of maple or ebony fingerboards on all USA models, for a small upcharge, just like Carvin does! That wouldn't be too much to ask, would it? Afterall, Fender does offer a choice of maple or rosewood on most of their models, too!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, for a small roughly $900 (list price) upcharge, one can get a maple board on a DK1. They call it the Custom Shop Edition.

Custom Shop Edition of a DK1 with maple board?!? Got a pic? I've never heard of that one. I've been thinking of possibly getting a DK1 in the future. I've got no problem with ebony, but just knowing a maple option is available on that now is so cool!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">There's not really any such thing, I was just saying you could order a custom shop dinky to DK1 specs but with a maple board, and the list price would be roughly $900 more than for the standard DK1.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough in my attempt at humor.

Of course, you have a smiley, too, so I may be the one who isn't getting it.

LOL Yeah, that one slipped by me and I thought you were serious for a minute. I just read it again and realized you meant about an extra $900 upcharge for it to be made in the Custom Shop. Damn!!!
Maybe Matt at OSG can get some Limited Edition stuff with maple boards!
