  • Can Jackson neck fit on Fender body?

I have a MIJ Stratocaster 62 reissue body, and the neck was too thick for me, so I sold that MIJ Fender neck.
I have 2 Jackson necks(one with Floyd Rose shelf), both of which have 22 frets, and which seem to have heel holes which match the holes in the Fender body's neck pocket.
The body pocket is slightly too narrow(maybe 1 millimeter on each side).
If I can sand away the excess 1 millimeter, and make the non-Floyd Jackson neck fit widthwise, will other problems prevent success?
(The Stratocaster body has single coil 60s reissue pickups, and a 60s reissue vintage US Stratocaster bridge, with the rolled steel block).
    Thanks for your advice.

you might have to sand the corners too. You may also need to shim the neck.

      Thanks for your answer.
The curve at the rear of the neck pocket is very similar to the Jackson's heel rear curve.
Shimming the neck up could be necessary, as you advise, because the overhanging millimeters of fretboard, at the highest frets, might not clear the body+pickguard. But I probably would just chop out the nuisance piece of 3 ply plastic pickguard, if I could avoid shimming the neck to a higher position.

Doesn't matter. The Jackson neck is wider at the heel than the Fender neck so you'd have to carve either the body or neck to make it fit. You'd also need to use a 22 fret Jackson neck. A 24 would not work.

Yeah, he said he has 2 22 fret jackson necks.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

I thought that some of the older mij fender stuff had 2.25 neck pockets too. Obviously his doesnt but I thought some did.

That assumes I read the original post - and you know what happens when you assume.

Both Jackson neck heels are 57 mm wide, and the MIJ Stratocaster's neck pocket is 56 mm wide(2.204 inches), as closely as I can meaure.
Also, either neck's overhanging fretboard extension, I think, would barely clear the pickguard plastic, or else just squeeze it down to the body surface...or grinding that small area of pickguard surface down slightly could be safe...
I certainly will have to sand the heel sides, or the pocket sides, because use of force in previous experiments has produced imperfect experimental results.

I was more thinking of going from a C profile neck to a D that the heel to fretboard maybe different thicknesses. The jackson neck might be thinner.

Regarding the overhang clearance, you'll most likely need a new (thinner) pickguard. You probably have something that's about .090 thickness, and you'll most likely need something .060. OR....you can sand (or file) the underside of the overhang until you've got the clearance you need.
