See my original plan was to get this guitar and paint it like Randy's original white one because of the inlays. However the guy wants $300 for it. He replied to my emails pretty fast until I asked him about the serial number proving it's a real Jackson. He never replied....

RIGHT AFTER I sent that reply I got this email from him.

"Not stamped. That I can see. Old Seymour Duncans are in it as for pick-ups. They work, but you might want to replace them."

I pretty much said "Are you sure it's actually a Jackson?"

        Got a reply...

"Yes, Quite. Infact so sure.. that when i was 15/16 when i bought it for 450$ from a local metalhead, my drummer's brothers jackson V had recently been stolen.. this is the same V. the guy i bought it from sanded it and painted it, and phil, my drummers brother, confirmed it to be his. It sold as an orange/black jackson V. then it was stolen, repainted and sold to me. Phil didnt want it back after he had recieved insurance and won 2m $ from a lottery.. guy was lucky hehe.. so he let me keep it seeing as i paid for it legitly. It's 15 or so years old now, has suffered time some. Anyhow......... ...

and it's in storage now. So.. If you are interested.. would like to just see it already?"

I wonder what he'd take for it without the case...it's not like I'm gonna take it anywhere besides home! haha. He seems honest and genuine but I don't know. I want the guitar to fuck around with but I refuse to pay $350 for it. $150 at MOST!

My reply: Well, I am still interested however the fact that all proof it's a Jackson has been painted over (headstock mainly) and the fact there is no serial number proving it's a real Jackson also make me wonder. Like I said, I'm still interested but I honestly can't see paying $350 for a guitar that could not be a Jackson. Not saying I don't trust your word, I just like actual proof in 'writing' if you know what I mean.

His reply..... I hear you 100%, and I wouldn't be offended if you didn't trust me Craigslist is a haven for scams. You'll know it's real by looking at it, holding it and feeling the neck. Perhaps under the car paint that the 2nd owner put on it and the spray paint i put on top of that when i was 16 lies the serial number. i don't mind examining it. And I'd like you to check it out instead of trying to imagine it photos can't do it justice. I am completely open to negotiating the price with you, After all.. it needs work and you are willing to give this guitar love from the sounds of things. i respect that. I'm sure there is more than one way to uniquely identify a jackson V. faceplate screw holes, strap grips, frets and inlays are all patented, no other V maker in the world can use the same screw layout for example.. so please do continue to do your homework, you seem more informed than me on the history of the V anyhow

LOL What a dumbass. Anyway, Jackson has used three- and four-hole screw patterns on the Rhoads pickguards. It's not a Jackson, period! The headstock is slightly off anyway. And with those block inlays, it wouldn't even be an import Jackson.

Well, looks like I'm gonna buy that black RR3 off Craigslist here and then continue working on that Rhoads I'm building in wood work. The guy won't accept it's not a real Jackson.

That sounds like a plan. That's what I just did on Sunday. Picked up a black RR3 from Craigslist for $275.

From what I've found online, every Hondo Rhoads I've seen has block inlays. He said "I'm open to offers" and I said "It's not a real Jackson so I'd pay $100 at the most". He never replied

I just wanted an RR style guitar I could mess around with paint wise. Not for $350 though!
