  • what's a stealth ex professional worth?

Look at title. Guys got one on CL in basically a fire sale with a Epi SG and 3 pedals for $200. Seems even a beater would be ok for that price.

Maybe 100 - 150. W-W-W-What are the pedals? (name the movie I paraphrased there)

Stealth EXs are very common, but good guitars if you want something smaller than a Dinky. The stock pickups are pretty poor, but at that price, you can upgrade them and still get a killer deal. I bought some of the "Hex" humbuckers at Guitarfetish.Com for $25/pair for my TH-2 Stealth and it was a massive improvement over stock.

LOL, what a coincidence, I purchased the two guitars and three pedals from that CL ad. The 1993 Jackson Stealth EX was in much better shape than he described on the phone. The same is true with the Epiphone G-400 SG. I think the gentleman thought electronics repair was very expensive (he said most of the pickups did not work on either guitar). I took a chance and scored...the Stealth's pickups had been replaced with a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 and Seymour Duncan STK-1, the cold solder on the switch was why it wasn't working. The Epiphone G-400 SG's pickups were replaced with Gibson Burtstbuckers and again poor soldering (to the jack though) was the problem with it. I sold the Ibanez PT9 Phaser pedal (vintage?) for $85. The other two "shred metal" pedals work fine after fixing the jacks. Not bad for $200 ($115 after -$85).

Roger, well it would have been a risk. In my experience, with buying and selling guitars, when a person tells you they have two junked out guitars it's probably more likely that they are junk than they are good and just need minor repairs. When I have to make an on the spot analysis I look at the condition of the body, if they have taken care of a guitar and there aren't horrible dings on it and/or when they bring it to you they don't toss it around like an old sock I tend to think the electrical problems are simple (i.e. cheap).
