  • 88 Soloist Custom in action

Just some pics from a recent show with my cover band. This is my best playing Jackson so far. I have a Norton in the bridge and a Dimarzio dual rail in the neck, can't remember what model. I always slam into the volume knob so I threw on some strat knobs to lower the profile, I also don't like the 3 mini switches so I wired the bridge and neck into one switch to toggle between the 2 (I never use the middle).

Charvel 7308 (TMZ 008), Charvel Pro-mod (yellow), Jackson Soloist Custom (Yellow), Jackson SL2H-V Natural, Gibson LPS DB, Gibson LPS EB, Gibson LPCC C, Charvel Model 2 (scalloped), Jackson DK2M (white), Charvel Journeyman, Fender Classic Player 60's strat, Carvin C66, Musikraft strat mutt, Warmoth Strat mutt, Fender MIM Jazz bass, Epiphone Classical, Takamine parlor. Marshall 2203, Marshall JVM 210H, Splawn Nitro, Fender Supersonic 22, Line 6 AX2 212, Marshall 4X12.

Cool guitar, but yeah, 3 mini-toggles is just a pain in the ass to use live...

Yeah, having the neck and bridge on one switch works well.

I hope there was a cover of "Under a Serpent Sun" in there somewhere

2 of my biggest gripes with any guitar, but mainly applicable to Jacksons of this era. I have used a mini-sized dome knob to give me a little more space. If that doesn't work, I'll place the volume where the tone knob and tuck the tone in the control cavity. I've done a similar switching configuration as yours.

Very nice guitar, BTW! Just curious, but do the 2 screws at the Floyd locking nut go all the way thru the neck to the back side?

What kind of songs do you guys cover?
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Yummy yellow! Guess I'm in the minority, but I've always liked the mini toggles.

Yeah, it has the screws going through and the paint crack that goes with it.
For cover tunes we do mostly 70's and 80's rock and metal and all 3 of us have to sing to fill it out. The Floyd is high enough so my hand passes over the strat knob ok, I have tucked many a tone control into the body many times too!
