  • Complete parts sellers???

    Hey all,
I'm rebuilding a JDR94 and building a Rhoads replica fron scratch and was wondering if anyone knows of any stores who stock a complete range of J/C or after market parts (i.e. a one stop shop?)
I know there's plenty of parts places like Stew Mac etc, and about a billion Evilbay dealers, but it always seems to be the case that they've got trems and locknuts but no tuners, tuners and neck plates - but no pots, pots but no knobs, etc etc etc......
Being that i live on the other side of the world, it'd be great not to have spend half my parts budget on shipping costs

    cheers

I hear ya. It always annoys me when people part out everything down to the smallest detail - tuners with no screws, etc. IMO if you're gonna part out guitars that do not conform to the Fender Universal Spec, keep it complete - neck with tuners and nut with locks, etc.

Sadly, no one stocks complete parts for several different Jackson models. I had thought about doing that myself years ago so people could buy mutt parts to build just about anything, but a neck goes here, a body goes there, and soon you end up with just excess stuff that has no mate.

Plus, a lot of people want to build an $800 guitar for $25 and then it becomes a pain in the ass trying to explain simple economics to them.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

Yeah, i can understand parting a guitar out, that's fair enough, and it's easy to see how you could end up with excess parts without a mate.
For me though, the part that makes no sense is places that dont stock a complete range of (new) aftermarket stuff (and if they can be bothered, bits of parted out axes). Surely it'd make more business sense to stock everything someone would need to build a complete guitar from the ground up? I'm not just talkin about Jacksons either, i decided to tart up an old crappy MIM Strat a while ago and just trying to get Cosmo black tuners to match the bridge was enough of a pain in the ass!!

I'm perfectly happy to spend the $$$, don't get me wrong, it just sucks paying 6 six different shipping charges. Especially when in some cases the shipping winds up costing almost as much as the part.

ah well, i'm off to ebay, haha

Hey there was a thread that mentioned replacement trem ares but I can't find it.
Is there something better on the replacement arms?

I'm curious because even with my set screw completely tight I still have way too much play/swing in my trem arm-

Thanks for that shreddy, but has anyone seen a place to buy just the bushings (white plastic sleeve ) for those trem bars?
