Hmmm, I wonder how hard it would be to retrofit the speedloader system to a "Classic" Floyd Rose setup
Swap nut, swap bridge, drill holes in headstock, screw in tuners, Done?"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

It's really the worst design ever. Any experienced FR guy knows to overwind the high strings a bit. Since most string breaks occur right at the saddle, you can just unwind a bit and lock it back down and you are off and running again. Not so with a SL._________________________________________________

I'm not here to defend the speedloader, but in practice it performs the same as all my regular floyd'd Jacksons and Charvels, with the added benefit of the headstock being lighter due to no tuners so the guitar balances very nicely on the strap.
If you are at a gig and break a string on a floyd'd guitar, you'll be out of tune with everyone else (assuming you are running a floating floyd), so you'd put that guitar down and reach for your backup to finish the song. After the song (or after the set), if your string broke at the saddle, yes you can unclamp the saddle screw to pull out the remnents, unclamp the nut screw, unwind enough length to get a straight shot back in the clamp, lock the saddle screw, wind the excess back on the tuner and tune to pitch, tug on the string a few times, re-tune, clamp nut, double check tuning and you're done.
With the Speedloader, same thing, string breaks, put guitar down, finish song with backup guitar. After song/set is done, get case and open and obtain spare string set (2 minutes or less ), push down on the saddle, pull back on the latch, release the saddle, remove string remnents (30 seconds or less). Insert new string bullet end at nut, insert bullet at saddle and push down (20 seconds or less). Tug a couple times (10 secs), verify tuning with fine tuner (30 secs).
When I first got the guitar, I'd walk up to my bandmembers, strum the guitar to show it's in tune, also do a couple dive bombs, then strum the guitar again to show still in tune, unlatch the saddle, pull out the string bullet from the saddle, wave the string to show it was disconnected, put bullet back into saddle, push down to lock, then strum the guitar again (with dive bombs and re-struming), showing that it was still in perfect tune. Total time for all that? about 30 to 45 seconds.Last edited by MountainDog; 02-02-2010, 08:43 PM.

I actually got to met and visit with Floyd Rose back in the 2004 NAMM and talk about this Speedloader. He asked how soon I'd be ordering one and I told him I couldn't use it because of the strings. I have always played Ernie Ball extra slinky (8-38 and tune down a whole step ) so the whole system can't work for me.
He didn't say anything to me after that - LOL!

This system was designed to attract newbies. We must face this. Ask yourself exactly who is this bridge aimed at. Look at the facts. Apart from facilitating string changes to a minor degree, it does nothing more or less than an original floyd rose. Facilitating string changes to people who use them daily is not that interesting. Especially when it limits them to only one string manufacturer. So i still stand by my earlier statement. If you really don't know how to operate a simple Floyd Rose, than buy it. While you're at it, you might as well buy a Shamwow, Mighty putty, slap chop, snuggie and anything else you see on tv cause you're probably the same guy in the black and white infomercials who can't seem to operate a fucking light switch without dropping his groceries on his balls and cutting himself on the smooth edges of the lever. :P

I don't have to buy a piece of shit to be able to look over it's design as an engineer and make wise cracks! Srsly, if it works for you, it's all that matters._________________________________________________

It's funny, among all of these pseudo guitar lovers there isn't one death metal fan. Shut up and stick to the topic; to all of you that got your head in your ass.

However it is true tho, you can't salvage strings on this.
I gotta try it, the strings may even be more durable. What do you know ..Last edited by Ripping Vaginal Skin; 02-03-2010, 02:44 AM.
