It'll be fine. There's plenty of people here who have "ebonized" their rosewood boards. Use the search function.

My 92 Stealth Pro has a couple of streaks in the ebony board. Personally I dont mind the streaks. Ebony is about the tone and the feel at least for me it is. I like a guitar thats unique and if my piece of ebony is different from yours im ok with that. Yes there are certain cases where the look does make a difference but thats few and far between.

Yeah on the guitar I just posted on the thread "my new axe" I treated the board with the black saddle dye because my buddy got it off ebay for me and the previous owner cleaned it up probably with bleach because of how faded the rosewood looked, almost like "pao ferro". And for my own taste I use Minwax wipe-on-poly to seal the board because my hands sweat and sometimes the dye can come off.

You know I love cocobolo with the very marbled fudge look and I would agree with you finding the beauty in a fingerboard like that in ebony.
I just have never had a guitar with an ebony board-

I like the dark look of the ebony fingerboard. I was asking because I thinking about trying this on my Jap soloist. Being that this is my nicest guitar at the moment I don't want to fuk it up but at the same time I'm eyeballing a usa soloist that I may trade towards. I had a black ghost flame RR1 that I traded for an ESP, I wish I could go back in time & slap the shit out my self before I handed it over.

Not me, but I have a Bentley Series 10 bass I picked up for $70 where it looks like someone just took a sharpie and colored the fingerboard black. The edges of the fretboard are still rosewood, giving an interesting contrast, like a reddish binding.

Well one thing rattlehead is that you have to be "neat" with the dye because it will stain EVERYTHING and you have to use gloves. Also you need to be very careful on the white binding because it will turn it dark purple and can permanently stain your guitars finish.
So I would mask everything off with tape first and be very careful!

Not a problem! Post pics if you do it though - you know, before and after.
It can give the guitar a whole new look!

Yeah he always seems to target the rich lawyer type that can afford anything but don't really play. Like in Vegas he sold many guitars to George Maloof. But not many real players deal with him.

I love the way they look and if they play anywhere as well as they look,
one of the two (ebony board preferably) will be mine.

They are plain and nothing flashy to look at and that's how I like them.

                            How does it play turk?

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Yes, there's a bee in the pudding.

Perfectly. I think my only complaint is the neck single. I'd prefer a hummer there.

What kind of masking tape would be recommended for this? Blue painters tape or would any old masking tape do?
